Tom Coughlin and so many of McKenzie's teammates came out to comfort him before he was driven away, makes it seem likely that the Giants' streak of having the same five offensive linemen start for 38 straight games is about to come to an end.
McKenzie was replaced by rookie
William Beatty, the Giants' third-round pick out of
UConn. He's a natural left tackle who's been playing both positions because, he said, his instructions are, "Whatever happens, make sure you're ready."
He believes he's ready, even though
quarterback Eli Manning did get hit once on Beatty's watch Sunday. He's just not comfortable becoming a starter without actually beating someone out.
