That's nuts. Are they blowing it up?

Is who blowing what up?

Seems like a smart deal for the Pats who love them some tight ends and need insurance for Gronk.

Can anyone tell me why D Waste is still taking up caproom? Seems like a place to give us breathing room. Dudes been out of football for THREE years and still has another suspension for domestic violence even if he ever does comeback.

given the growth in the salary cap + so many teams having a silly amount of money to spend: lots of deals where very avg players get giant $. Get used to it

Agreed.

But that doesn't mean the Cardinals have to play that game either.

Was so happy at one point that we had a MLB that was pro bowl material then ka pooey. Ya we need to figure out a way to can him for good so he can do whatever he does.

They just talked about this on the radio yesterday. He's not taking up caproom - salary of suspended players do not count towards the cap. Only a portion of signing bonus does.

Crazy. The Pats are going to lose one TE in FA and somehow pick up another one by swapping a 4th for a 6th. So proactive and masterful at manipulating their roster and the cap. They will probably get a comp pick for losing Bennett but picking up Allen in the trade won't affect their Comp pick status at all.

He is suspended indefinitely thus he does not count against the cap.

The rule is, if a player is suspended then the cap number for said player is reduced by the number of games he is suspended. If a player has a four game suspension then his cap number is reduced by 1/4.

Thus Washington is currently suspended indefinitely, thus he is suspended for 16 out of 16 games, which mean he doesn't count against the cap.

Once he is re-instated, he will then again, count towards the cap.

That being said I COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND if you click on overthecap.com, there is Washington counting against the cap. Doesn't matter, he is suspended regardless.

I have stated all this many times, and if anyone doesn't take me at my word, I would advise you research online and you will find the same information I have.

Thus Washington being on the books doesn't count for anything until the bastard is re-instated, and that point I would expect the Cardinals to release him immediately.

He doesn't count against the cap until he is cut. That's why he's still technically on the team. It's been a financial blessing that he hasn't been reinstated. Hopefully he never will be.

As a matter of fact Overthecap just changed it where only his signing bonus is counting against the cap (1.8m) so we have 21M in cap space. (Minus Gresham and Jones new cap number)
