The Atlanta Falcons lacked the salary cap funds to sign big-name free agents but found enough cash to add veteran edge rusher Leonard Floyd. The former top-10 pick and Atlanta native knows this city well and understands exactly what he was brought in for.

During Floyd's introductory press conference on Tuesday, the 32-year-old was asked what his No. 1 goal was for the 2025 NFL season and his answer didn't disappoint.

"Getting my highest amount of sacks in one season," answered Floyd. "That's my goal. That's always been my goal every season."

In case you were wondering, his career high in sacks is 10.5, a feat he accomplished in the 2020 and 2023 seasons. Floyd also talked about his previous experience working with coach Raheem Morris in Los Angeles from 2021-2022.

"He's more than a coach," said Floyd. He's like a brother, father, you know. He's a great person, a great guy to be around and I look forward to playing for him."

Floyd said he had some of his best NFL experience with Morris as his coach.

"I had some of my best plays out there playing in L.A. with him," explained Floyd. "I won a ring with him in L.A., so yeah, by far he's one of the best I've had."

The Falcons had a big need at edge rusher after finishing 31st in the NFL with 31 sacks last season. Since the team has yet to re-sign Matthew Judon and Lorenzo Carter has signed with the Titans, Atlanta had a clear need for a starting EDGE.

Floyd has recorded at least 8.5 sacks in five consecutive seasons, despite playing for three different teams. Falcons fans are hoping he can bring that same level of success to Atlanta in 2025.
