I want the top free agents. I’ve run the numbers and it’s just barely possible. So assuming the Cards get outbid where are the longer shots who might be worth a chance even if it’s on one year make good contracts. I’ve already mentioned the guards. What about pass rushers?

Malcom Koonce seemed destined for bigger things. Then he got nicked up, eventually suffering a season ending injury. He’s worth a shot if he doesn’t price himself beyond reality. I’m hearing Trey Hendrickson is available for trade if the offer is right. This is one of those guys who wants to show up his current team. He also wants to reestablish himself to collect a big contract next year. He might be tough to keep, but he’ll have a big year if traded. He’s likely to be the most productive Edge available. Charles Omenihu is another injury returner. He’s solid, but not a star. He may be a good mentor for a decent draft pick. Looking for a late round gamble or maybe a UDFA, try Josiah Silver, New Hampshire. It will take at least 2 years to get productivity, but he’s a gem in the rough.

I think the Cards need a veteran ballhawk at CB. How about Rasul Douglas? He won’t be cheap, but he heads up the second tier of available free agents. I think Williams might actually be a better CB, but he’s not yet the ballhawk Douglas has become.

The best DT in free agency is likely BJ Hill. He can anchor and collapse the pocket. He won.’t be cheap $12-13 mil a year. He would be solid if the Cards don’t target a draft winner.

Always interested in seeing suggestions I may have misses.

he had 17.5 sacks

two first round picks would be the starting point

and 2025 is the last year of his contract -- so if the Cards spend the picks then an extension would be required. Bosa is currently the top EDGE per year at $34mm. $40mm per?

i would rather spend those picks (if the opportunity presents) to move up, take Abdul Carter and have a reasonable contract / control for 5 years

I mean, Douglas already broke our hearts once...he may as well come in and make up for it. Haha

Cards need to grab one top tier FA at edge or DT to hedge concerns of not being able to get both in draft. Beside they have no more excuses not to be in the mix this off season, it’s year 3 of this rebuild and time to be more aggressive

I’d try a third round and if I had to, switch to a second and a third from 2026. He’s on his last season and will not re-sign with them.

Why exactly would they want picks pushed to next year?
