The reviews are being held back until a day before the release according to one report and the other says they are being held back until 3 HOURS BEFORE the film is released. This pretty much always means the reviews are not going to be kind and the movie didn't test well.

Part of me was hoping for a decent reboot. The other part of me was hoping for a monumental failure to pressure FOX into getting into a similar agreement that Sony did with Marvel/Disney. It's very well possible the next time you see the Fantastic Four is in a crossover with X-Men because this may kill any future of this franchise being solo.

While the rest of the press world will see "Fantastic Four" tomorrow with more verdicts to come, the Hollywood trades have had the jump, and these first online reviews confirm all the bad buzz: the movie isn't very good.

The common complaint is that Josh Trank's vision spends way too much time on building the origin stories for these characters, and very little with them actually joining forces to work together against Dr. Doom. Essentially, there is a lot of build up—none of it very interesting—for very little payoff.

This is another one I will watch when it hits cable, no interest in seeing it in the theater.

It's getting killed by critics:

Rotten Tomatoes: 10% with 52 Reviews in
Metacritic: 30 with 15 Reviews in

Fox...sell the rights back....please!

The worst movie they've ever seen, yet they give it an above average rating? That's weird.

i think Ken's ribbing IGN's usual off-kilter ratings. Review I saw said this:

"THE VERDICT

Fantastic Four isn’t unwatchable or flat-out awful. It’s aggressively mundane, and devoid of energy, wonder, wit and whimsy. For a movie about people seeking what else is out there, Fantastic Four never looks for a spark of life in itself. It’s all as cold and grey as the soulless buildings the characters are entombed in throughout."

5.0 - Mediocre

Watch, I will see it and like it. I guess I have a different taste then most critics. Every time some critic dogs on a movie, I seem to love it. I guess I am easily entertained. :D

I thought it was terribly boring. Not all around terrible, just freaking dull.

No really here is my review in a nut shell. The ENTIRE movie could have been condensed into the first 45minutes and served as the origin tale, then an actual, extended conflict with DOOM could have been established and we could have given a crap about how it ended.

Seriously dull and un interesting is all I can think of to describe it.

I didn't hate it, there were some good things about it but oh my lord did it draaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaag

I think it is a bit of a victim of a critics avalanche. No one wants to be the person to say it's not horrible. Saw it today. Is it great? No way. Is it horribly unwatchable? No way. It fell apart a bit at the end but until then it seemed to possibly be building towards something interesting. I would give it a solid C-... Not the F it is being made out to be.

Agreed! I thought up until they got their powers was making for a solid movie and then it fell a part.

Obviously the theaters were expecting more. They had lines all setup at our local theaters expecting people to line up. Those lines were empty aside from a handful of people getting their early. I also asked some people on the way out (I was there seeing Vacation) when they exited. A group of guys simply told us don't bother.
