Hmm...

Pick #3 was a tough call. I really thought long and hard about taking Shaq daddy...but he is bound to have a down year this year from a fantasy standpoint.

I fully expect his rebounding numbers to fall and his scoring will most likely dip as well. Then there is always that toe thing.

So I went with what I considered the safest pick, Tracy McGrady. I love his ability to play guard or forward.

Tim Duncan should have been #1. Garnett gives you better production but Duncan gives you more valueable minutes at center.

Yeah I would have taken Duncan #1 as well.

Though really it doesn't matter. There are waaaaay too many guys that are qualified for Center to make it a top need position.

I mean Danny Freakin' Fortson is a FC.

Yeah but the few centers that are good except Shaq are far below Duncan.

While Duncan, TMac, Nowitzki, Webber aren't far behind KG and who knows how KG's stats will change this season with Cassell, Spree and Kandi.

I would actually rank Brand right below Duncan since he is still incorrectly listed as a FC.

Well Kobe is going to be an interessting pick this year.

How high is someone willing to take the gamble?

I don't think O'Neal's numbers will come down. Last year was already a down year for him compared to '01-'02 (by 0.05 fppm). This year he is in better shape and more motivated. He wants to show that it is still his team, even with all of the talent added.

I would have taken O'Neal with the #1 pick if I had won the lottery. :D

But McGrady should be excellent too, as long as he can stay healthy. And you can't go wrong with Duncan or Garnett.

I don't know. I had several bad experiences with Shaq in the past.

I lost like 3 leagues deep in the playoffs because Shaq figured he would rest for the remainder of the season when the Lakers were already locks for homecourt.

I had actually planned on taking Shaquille O'Neal with the first pick if I got it, but I panicked at the last minute with #2. Now I'm kind of wishing I had taken Tracy McGrady, but his back problems scared me. I figure Tim Duncan is consistent.

After all the complaining about never getting a topic in the draft I think I would have been happier with a couple of picks near the middle of the first-round. We'll see.

Sure, if you got a couple of mid first-round picks, that would be great!

Yes, but last year, the Lakers finally paid the price for coasting at the end of the regular season. This year they will push all the way. Also, they might be chasing a record for regular-season wins.

One problem with O'Neal is that he will see limited minutes in many games, since the Lakers will have taken 30-point leads by the middle of the third quarter. That's kind of unfortunate.

Yeah I brought up that point before.

I am happy with #10 and #23. That might be the best possible situation since you will get a top 10 player with the first pick and still get a top tier with your second pick.

If you get #1 sure you get Duncan/Garnett but your next pick is #32.

Your top two players would probably be Tim Duncan and someone like Rashard Lewis.

LOL, I had the #33 pick last year and took Lewis with it. He turned out to be a disaster.

Here I made a quick overview of all players in the top 200 last years with questionable positions.

None of them has been drafted yet so it would still be possible to do this.

If we could all agree on these changes elindholm could force them after the draft.
If someone still thinks Hamilton for example should be a G/F he could still try to make an argument and vote him back to G/F.

The other players that _already_ have multiple positions are pretty much without a doubt right and the ones that should be multipe position players can still be voted later but you have to draft them guessing wether your vote will go through or not.

Jamal Mashburn G/F -> F
Dirk Nowitzki F/C -> F
Elton Brand F/C -> F
JUWAN HOWARD F/C -> F
Predrag Stojakovic G/F -> F
Richard Hamilton G/F -> G
Kurt Thomas F/C -> F
Eddy Curry F/C -> C
Stromile Swift F/C -> F
CARLOS BOOZER F/C -> F
Elden Campbell F/C -> C
Rashard Lewis G/F -> F
Jason Richardson G/F -> G
Jamaal Magloire F/C -> C
Theo Ratliff F/C -> C
James Posey G/F -> F
Vladimir Radmanovic F/C -> F
Rick Fox G/F -> F
Eric Williams G/F -> F
Raef LaFrentz F/C -> C
Tony Battie F/C -> C
Glen Rice G/F -> F
Cherokee Parks F/C -> C

I guess I don't see the point of changing positions now. The only thing you're going to do is piss people off. At least as it stands now we all know what position these guys we are drafting are playing. If you go and change positions now, even though most of those players have not been drafted, you'll still screw up People's game plans.

How?

NONE of these players has been drafted.
You can't lose something you never posessed.

Some of those multi-positions are simply ridiculous.

Slinslin, you can argue for it all you want, but it's not going to happen in this league.

End of discussion.

Wow I missed Nowitzki being listed as center. Sheesh you don't need to worry about C. There are plenty.

So, this whole "people being on-line while on the clock, and then suddenly going off-line" thing is pretty interesting, huh?

Beats the heck out of me.

My theory is that people aren't realizing that the page has to be refreshed manually. They open the window and leave it there, just checking it once in a while, but of course it doesn't look like anything has happened, because the page needs to be updated. Then they give up and leave for a while.

We'll all get the hang of it. It should be moving along pretty good by this evening.

Maybe starting to draft early like this was a good idea. It should going as soon as people get off work, but it will probably stall again at #10. It's almost 2 a.m. tomorrow in Germany.
