Slinslin will be awake again before midnight our time, so my guess is that we'll have at least the first two rounds completed before tonight. Then over the weekend, it will go as fast as people want it to. I actually think it's fine if the draft takes a week or so. But everyone wants to know who their first few picks are!

Yeah, I was sure that slinslin would set a list for his #10 pick, then make #23 when he got up this morning. He did say his list was very short, however, so maybe he did set one and those players were taken.

One possibility is that he wants Gasol but first wants us to assure him that we'll approve a vote to make him a FC.

This is ridiculous--he should just make a pick. I'm tired of the bantering about position changes. A decision needs to be made--I hate .ws drafts--it shouldn't take more than a day to complete a draft.

There's no way I could do a 12-round draft in a day. I need to see things unfold and be somewhat strategic. Besides, I have a trade offer on the table right now and I want the other manager to have a chance to think about it.

If people want to sleep, they should be allowed to -- once or twice. :p Slinslin has already used close to four hours, so he won't be able to do this with every pick.

No the reason that I set up a short contigency list is that there were only 2 players that I am really interessted in.

And both of them were taken while I was sleeping which I didn't expect to happen.

I didn't want a 3rd player on the contingency list because I want to explore some trades now that both of my top options are gone instead of just settling for a player.

I also need some time to do more research about how much time Chris Webber is going to miss because statswise he is by far the best player available.

Ok I made the safe pick - Gasol.

But I really really wanted Jermaine O'Neal. Unfortunately Zarko might be sleeping now and I couldn't wait another 5 hours until he sees my trade proposal.

Yes, Allen was a good pick there. I had him as my #6 Guard overall (which includes GF's).

There are some very good "pure" Forwards still on the board.

One thing you need to consider is that some people always draft players they like.

For example I wouldn't want to have Jason Kidd.

That's why I wanted Jermaine O'Neal. Not because I think he will be better than Gasol next season but I just like him much more than Gasol.

i didn't really want to have kidd on my team but he was the obvious choice at #6

Yes, I think I do prefer to have a couple of picks close to each other at the beginning instead of one of the top picks.

I changed my mind. I would have rather had #3 and #30.


If you look at the draft order Eric must have gotten lucky because he has #4, #29 and #35. 4th in the first round, 13th in the 2nd round, 3rd in the 3rd round...

For comaprison Thugz got #1, #32 and #48.
Thats #1 in the first round, #16 in the 2nd round, #16 in the 3rd round.

Or myself I got #10, #23, #46. That's 10 , 7, 14

BIM got #16, #17, #33. Thats 16, 1, 1


Either I didn't notice this last season or they have changed something in the draft order because I can't see through the logic.

The first transaction in either league

Transaction #1 - 10/11 11:22:53 - Wally trades Pick 4, Pick 29 to Claremont for Pick 14, Pick 19.

Example

Team A picks

#4 in the first round
#13 in the second round
#3 in the third round
#14 in the fourth round
#16 in the 5th round
#1 in the 6th round
#6 in the 7th round
#11 in 8
#10 in 9
#7 in 10
#16 in 11
#1 in 12

That'srandom except that picks that 1+2, 3+4, 5+6, 7+8, 9+10, 11+12 are always a total of 17 which is logical.

Best case seems to me that you could have the first pick in the first round, last in the 2nd round, 1st in the 3rd, last in the 4th and then whatever.
That would give you #1,#32,#33 which seems to be a pretty big advantag over anyone who got picks like #10, #23, #46 because after the first couple of rounds the draft order is not as forseeable as before and you can steal many quality players anyway.

Worst case would be #16 in the first round, #1 in the second round, #16 in the 3rd round again, #1 in the fourth....
