Ok, so I'm watching "Miracle" for the first time last night. It was a good enough movie, but kind of a let down. Maybe I was too tired or something, it really didn't stir me as much as I thought it would. Maybe it was just a bit too much of a history lesson for me, there were no surprises.

Any whoo...on to my point...

So during the segment of the film when the US team is playing their qualifying round games, they show their final round-robin match with the West Germans. Now, it's all good until they show the scoreboard...instead of having the abbreviation FRG (Federal Republic of Germany) for West Germany, it's GDR (German Democratic Republic)!

Friends, that's East Germany.

It was obivous and glaring in my mind, although I understand that a lot of people would miss something like that.

Now, the question is; what flaws in films have you spotted that made you wonder if the filmmakers are paying attention or not?

Biggest one I've ever seen is at the beginning of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

After the opening with River Phoenix, Harrison Ford is fighting guys on a ship in the middle of a storm. Throughout the entire scene, Indy has blood flowing from the left side of his mouth, but later, in a close-up, the blood has mysteriously moved to the right side of his mouth. The next shot, it's moved back to its original spot.

Don't they have "continuity" people whose sole purpose is to spot those kind of errors?

Maybe that's what I should do with my life!

There are continuity people that stand there with a script and make sure that people are wearing the right clothes, holding their coffee cups in the same hand, etc. Sometimes stuff gets missed...

Another one:

In Spartacus, one of the gladiators (or was it a Roman soldier?) was wearing a wristwatch.

In a lot of B-movie Westerns from the 50s and 60s, you can see planes flying in the background.

Did you ever notice that scene in the first star wars (Episode IV) when the stormtroopers are trying to get the droids in the security control room....one of the droids hits his head when he comes in the room. There was sound effects and everything. I always wondered why Lucas left that in.

You mean Ben Hur? Heston has a watch on during the chariot race.

No, Spartacus. I think it was one of the Romans, now that I have more time to think about it.

How about in The Rock when the San Francisco FBI director was talking to the National Director about who Sean Connery's character was, and the National Director said that he had stolen microfilm that contained all the FBI's secrets like "the alien landing at Roswell and who shot JFK" back in 1962, despite the fact that JFK was shot in 1963.

Unless the writers were trying to say the FBI already knew in 1962 who was going to shoot JFK. :|
