I'm a big sucker for live storytelling.


I've also listened to a couple of Dan Carlin's Hardcore History - found them to be chock full of information.

In "Hardcore History" the very unconventional Dan Carlin takes his "Martian", outside-the-box way of thinking and applies it to the past. Was Alexander the Great as bad a person as Adolf Hitler? What would Apaches with modern weapons be like? Will our modern civilization ever fall like civilizations from past eras? This is a difficult-to-classify show that has a rather sharp edge. It's not for everyone. But the innovative style and approach has made "Dan Carlin's Hardcore History" a New Media hit.

I also adore the cracked.com podcast. That thing is a lot of fun.

I've been listening to some new comedy podcasts lately.

First was Go Bayside!, where a comedian invites a fellow comedian over to watch an episode of Saved by the Bell, then they recap and deconstruct. Hilarious. http://gobayside.tumblr.com/

So I've been saying for years that I want to read a biography on each US president. I just can't seem to find a series with the right length to commit to with realistic expectations of finishing it.

I recently stumbled up on this podcast:

American Presidents: Totalus Rankium​

They spend about 3 hours on each president. They're pretty organized and they sprinkle in a bit of humor along the way. I highly recommend it if you're interested in US presidents. I'm currently on Taylor. For some reason it never dawned on me how interconnected many of the early presidents were. I was pretty familiar with the founding fathers, but it's interesting how the next batch played roles with the founding fathers' as they aged out of politics.

It's also interesting to listen to how the parties were formed and morphed over the years (e.g., I've heard about the whig party, but I didn't really understand what it was or how it started).
