I seem to recall the italian food at my high school tasting like Fazolis
I think the burgers at Glendale High School had soy/fake breakfast sausage taste.Give Marriot more credit than this.
Thinking back......do you remember the burgers?? Even the hamburger meat had a sausagey taste to it. My poor son....I make him eat the school lunch everyday.
i'm a born & bred italian east coaster who refuses to step foot into olive garden and in general can be food snob
with that said - i enjoy fazzolis - yeah it's got a school lunch quality to it and I can't say there is anything authentic about it - i definitely don't try to get anything that would be authentic
the chicken parm is more like a tyson chicken tender - and the baked ziti isn't close to what I can make at home
but I just view it as a fast food alternative and not as italian food - i don't eat fazzolis when I want italian - i eat there when I want a quick alternative to the typical fast food
I just don't understand how you can hate that place unless you are Italian and have had the best Italian food that the world has to offer. The food tastes good and unless you are totally against fast food places, I don't know how you can dislike it. Maybe it's just the one you went to was bad, but I thought you live in Chandler...? so then you'd be going to the same one as me. I love their breadsticks and I don't see anything wrong with their pasta, cheese, sauce or meatballs. They even have sandwiches and pizza if you don't like the baked stuff.Oh my Science!! I just threw up in my mouth.
Went there tonight because of this thread and really enjoyed it! I got a twice baked ziti with extra meat sauce and extra cheese. My 12 year old got the lasagna. Was very tasty and very filling! Not homemade of course but good none the less!
He lives way out in Maricopa....I don't even think they have them out thereI just don't understand how you can hate that place unless you are Italian and have had the best Italian food that the world has to offer. My mistake, I thought he had Chandler in his location once. Must be thinking of ChandlerMike. He lives way out in Maricopa....I don't even think they have them out there
Fazolis + breadsticks = cancer. heh. Fazolis is total and utter crap. In fact, All fast food is. Fast food is, by its very name total garbage. Nothing worth eating can be prepared as qucikly as those death dens churn out their commissary made ecologically disastrous preservative and artificial flavor addled baby vomit. It just cant be done. I refuse to buy the argument that people dont have time to eat well. You choose not to have the time. Right now, Im the sole bread winner, have a new 8 week old, am working about 50 hours a week and I still cook dinner every night. In fact, tonight, I had grilled chicken breast, served over a whole wheat linguini with some of that homemade red sauce I posted the recipe for in another thread. i pulled the sauce out of the freezer, and had the whole dinner on the table in about 15 minutes. THATS fast food.
You bring up an interesting point here....does anyone know of how/where to purchase locally grown stuff in the Phoenix area? (I'm being serious). Does Sprouts get local stuff? I have always been a proponent of supporting the smaller, local businesses in my area as opposed to large chains, (ie, a local pizza joint instead of pizza hut--even if they don't deliver) but when it comes to groceries I have no clue how to do this. Any suggestions anyone? Are you reading emotion into text again? Just like a woman. Heh. Like I said in earlier posts. Im acutely aware of my obsession with this. And Ill admit Im a touch hypocritical as well, ass I still put crap into my body daily. BUT, I do make a sincere effort to think about what I eat, take the time to prepare good wholesome, organic (when I can friggin afford it) meals made from LOCALLY (thats the BIG one) grown and raised produce and meats. Its SO huge. Let me recommend a book to you. The Omnivores Dilemma by Michael Pollan. Im just getting started, and its going to be amazing. Im not getting worked up, Im just trying to spread a gospel thats actually worth spreading.

You don't own a crock pot....do you??
Fazoli's is 20 times the food of Olive Garden and 1/10th the cost.
Is it real Italian food? No, not a chance. But it's great fast Italian. If they had Zuppa Tuscana like Olive Garden, I'd eat at Fazoli's every day.
What do you have against crock pots? I can make some sick dips and chicken/rice meals in a crock that kick ass.
