Everyone that trades more than a 3rd and conditional maybe #1 if Luck plays 16 games this or next year or 4k yards this or next year is a high stakes poker bluffer ...

Luck had multiple doctors on this shoulder, he went to europe to get treatment he still doesn't throw Footballs and that over 1 1/2 year after the injury.

If that isn't scary, than add to it that the team that drafted him and is aware of all the treatments does trade him.

But if he can get back to his former self in the next 12 months a #1 and a 3# rounder are a good risk/reward deal. You get maybe 6-8 other years of Andrew Luck and maybe he can get at least one ring. But don't get to hyped just yet, he was a good QB not the greatest before his injury, so maybe he never will be more than average.

Drew Brees injury comes to mind. Dolphins whiffed. Saints took the chance.

that would be the position of those who are "pro" getting him. But Brees got hurt, had surgery in January, and played the very next season.

I wouldnt be against making a modest offer for him to use him as a bridge... maybe get him then pick Faulk or Lauletta in the second round

maybe next years first with this years third and fifth... then we could grab Nelson or Price at 15.... Hell, Nelson at 15...Lauletta at 47,...then grab Frank Ragnow with our other third
no point in getting the guy if we cant keep him upright

If he can pass a physical then offer up two first rounders. I would love to have a healthy Luck as our QB.

Well how much of a chance do the Cards want to take to get to the playoffs? Andrew Luck is apparently being offered. His cap hit is $24 mil, but his $6 million roster bonus is due 3/13, so I don’t think that would carry to his new team. Also I think the prorated $6.4 million being charged this year would accelerate to Indy. That makes his 2018 cap hit $12mil. However next 3 years would be $22 mil, $21 mil and $21 mil. He’s affordable if he’s healthy, which he says he his. Of course the Cards have have a small problem keeping their QBs healthy. I’m quite certain LA & SF will be aiming to destroy whomever the Cards start. Still if he can catch lightning in a bottle, he has tremendous talent. Forget his results at Indy, they gave him too little help. The risk reward matrix is fascinating. If nothing else it’s a fun thought. I think he may not cost what you think so let me know if you like the idea and what you’d pay. Of course he has to pass a physical for there to be a deal.

Harry I hope that this is coming from a reliable source, because Indy would have to eat 22.2 mil in dead cap space. If they were willing to eat that much cap space it would make me pretty skeptical.

Get him and run. Guys like him don't become available.

With ya here.

I remember people hemming and hawing about Peyton and how he was going to stink and they didn’t want him.

Well... he went on to two Super Bowls, won one and got to the playoffs every year.

If he passes a physical, two firsts... boom done. Ready to challenge for the NFC.

Peyton went to full-on free agency though... no one traded for him. And he got absolutely carried to the Super Bowl at the end. He threw two TDs, none in the SB. He was benched for Brock freaking Osweiler in the first game of the playoffs until Brock played himself out of it.

We can't build a Super Bowl winning team with no picks.

Yeah, I wouldn't give up too much. Don't know if a 2nd, 3rd and 4th will do it. But SF got a healthy experienced starting QB for one 2nd rounder.
Foles isn't worth much more either.

Any trade is folly to think about because no way does Indy eat $22.2 mil in cap space, that would just be inconceivable.

I tend to agree. But if they draft a guy at3 they will only pay him around 6mil...so they could technically afford to take that hit.
however if Luck goes elsewhere and has a stellar career... there will be a toll to pay for that decision, especially if their rook doesnt measure up...so I think they stick with Luck until they are 100% certain he is done.

That is what I was thinking when I made the post about dead cap space, just didn't have time to elaborate. If they took the hit of 22 mil and paid 6 that would be about the same thing as if they kept him and drafted a QB in the first round. It does say to me buyer beware, but I can't believe that they know something other teams don't or won't find out about before a trade is consummated.

Harry, where did you hear that Indy is offering Luck?

This wasn’t Cleveland and wasn’t a fan forum! It came from a guy who scouts for one of the teams needing a QB. He was asked for a write up on Luck. They typically only put time on something like that if they think he’s available.

That team is so far away from competing for the playoffs it makes sense that they are open to an offer for Luck. They need to press the restart button.
