They may bring in competition from behind doors #1 --- #2 or #3 and before opening day , they may show Feely door #4 . Door #4 is the one with these letters -- E-X-I-T .

Ugh. Feely missed too many field goals from inside 40 yards last year and his kickoffs really sucked. :(

Yeah, we don't need a kicker whose made 98 of 115 FGs & perfect on XPs. ;)
Btw that's 85%. Probably the best kicker (% wise the Cards have had for eternity).

Sure his KOs aren't the greatest but he's pretty damn reliable for kicking it between the sticks.

The only thing is Feely couldn't kick anything over 50 yards outdoors. I don't think he even attempted those, auto punt for the Cards on 4th down. Throw out the most difficult attempts and he should have a killer percentage. I don't think he was horrible as a placekicker, but he certainly does not have a "strong" leg. His specialty was the 30-35 yarder and he even missed a couple of those indoors last year.

Doesn't come close to 2005 when Rackers went 40-42 making 95% and the pro bowl.

And your point is? I'm sure you weren't screaming for the Cards to cut him either after he missed clutch kick, after clutch kick, after clutch kick either like 90% of this board was either. :p

Anyway you slice it, Feely's been a better kicker for his Cardinal career vs. Neil Chokers. :D
This is exactly like people forgetting how good Dansby actually was in red until he returned last year...very under appreciated.

Sure he's not the boomer Rackers was, but he's still made 8-12 in his Cards career. Btw he did kick the longest FG in our history in case you forgot, 61 yds :p

I remember that game. First of all, I couldn't believe we were even attempting it, I thought he had no chance. Then, I couldn't believe it when he made it. Ever since then, I've wondered how in the hell a guy who drills a 61 yd FG gets so few touchbacks.

He has a strong enough leg, I think something should be tweaked on kickoffs where it is a bit more of a line drive, and longer, instead of higher and shorter. To me, that is a minor adjustment in technique.

Never had a problem with his accuracy..... It's his kickoffs....I think he pretty much lost us at least one game with his short kickoffs. Th last game against SF comes to mind.

That Buffalo game in 2012 was really odd though. Hits a 61 yarder, then can't hit a 38 yarder to win it.

:barf:

Such a dumb move that will yet again cost us at least two games with his poor accuracy and poor kick offs.

The guy has missed 9 FG's out of 64 attempts!

I mean.. He's far from a hall of famer, but we have done MUCH worse.

The kickoffs piss me off though..Would be nice to have a punter who could boom kickoffs also.. I don't think his leg is gonna get any stronger at this point of his career.

I'm fine with it. He'll compete with kickalicious, and we can always potentially draft someone, or bring them in as a free agent. Feely represents the organization well, and is a pretty solid kicker.

not a fan of the move. All you need to do is look back at the last game of the year. Dawson vs. Feely was the difference in the game.

Agreed. Why not try and steal Hauschka away from Seattle? I know he would cost some coin, but he's significantly better.
I was thinking the same thing. Why not?

Feely just frustrates the heck out of me. Short kickoffs and untimely misses.

How many feel 100% confident in him when a clutch FG is needed? Or a touchback?

Bringing in a kicker who can make a difference in field position is huge.

It's 1-year deal.

At some point it would be nice to upgrade kicker but is down the line on the priority list.

Strong safety, cornerback depth, offensive line upgrade(s), an elite pass rusher to eventually replace John Abraham and the eventual replacement for Darnell Dockett are all higher on the priority list IMO. And that doesn't include a third receiver/kickoff returner with speed.

I don't get the automaticly here thinking , every team signs players in the off-season that don't make the opening day roster , if they find someone they like better , Feely will be gone .

For those who don't like this move, list alternatives and don't say Hauschka because Seattle isn't going to let him go.

He's an UFA. Seattle can't stop him from going anywhere. Either way, make them pay up if they want to keep him.
