What happened in the Packers game? Is Fergi seriously hurt?

Donavan Darius clotheslined him. Ferguson did have his arm up giving the "thumbs up" sign as he was carted off the field.

Darius was ejected, obviously. I'm sure he'll be making a donation to the NFL soon as well.

EDIT: The announcers said he was taken to a nearby hospital for overnight observation for head and neck injuries.

Looks to be okay so far.

It will be interesting to see if Darius is suspended for one or two games. I think it should be for two. That play was about as dangerous as it gets.

Someone on ESPN tried to say he was going for the ball, Ferguson pulled the ball down, and that's why he got his head, but I don't buy that at all. You don't swing a forearm to go for the ball you swing a hand at the ball. Darius did precisely what he intended to do, I think she should be suspended the rest of the regular season.

If he meant it - suspend him for the rest of the year. That could have killed him. He was out cold on the ground.

If he didn't mean to do it. He should be fined more than any other Chuck Cecil hit. It should be a very large fine cause the hit is un-acceptable. Go try to get the ball another way besides killing someone.

Peace

Isn't Darius a SS?

Yes, but if the Cards let Adrian Wilson get away, Darius would be a guy to target to replace him, as long as he doesn't get franchised again.

At this point, though, I think that Wilson might be a better player.

FYI they're reporting Ferguson was temporarily paralyzed below the waist, didn't regain motion until on the way to the hospital, when he waved to the fans on the way off the field, he couldn't move his legs at all. Talk about frightening, I hope they throw the book at Darius, who continues to say he was just trying to jar the ball loose.

It was an even worse hit than the one Sapp put on that Packer a year or two ago. It was vicious. Jack Tatum must be smiling somewhere.

fergi will be okay and back on the field - i hope darius gets a fine and suspension. he's already talking about the appeal he'll file if the league fines him.

good thing it wasn't more serious - that could have been career ending.

I rather sign Wilson since he is younger and Darius is getting up there in age. btw Darius needs to be fined for the hit.

IN fairness at least Ferguson was involved in the play, when Sapp hit Clifton he may as well have been hitting a guy out of bounds he was nowhere near the play.

But Darius' hit was totally out of the norm, just no place in the game for that type of reckless play.

There is no way that the league cannot fine him. If they don't you will see more and more of it. Even more serious injuries.
