The Fiesta Bowl and Cardinals most recently have bickered over use of suites at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale and whether the Fiesta Bowl could cover the Cardinals' logo for its game. During the Cardinals playoff run, the bowl removed the team's NFC West championship banner for the 2009 Fiesta Bowl.

Them SOBs!!!! Burn em at the stake!

This is the fault of the NCAA for scheduling the Fiesta bowl on a Monday. The NFL always schedules all 16 games of the final week of the season on Sunday now. If the Fiesta bowl ever happens to be on a Monday again and the NFL season keeps the same end dates, then it just means the Cardinals will close on the road from now on.

The NFL makes the schedule. The Cardinals aren't at fault. Tough cookies for the BCS officials.

The Cardinals admit they screwed up by not notifying the NFL about the Fiesta Bowl date. BUT. the Fiesta Bowl would be a second-tier bowl again without UofP stadium. And, there would be no stadium without the Cards and the NFL. I don't think one year of a game the day before the Fiesta Bowl is all that much trouble compared to being forced to compete with the Insight Bowl for exciting the local folks.

The Cardinals did screw this up bigtime. It violates the TSA funding and use agreement. In court, the Cards and the NFL will lose. It behooves the NFL to move the Cards/Green Bay game to Saturday, one day earlier.

Does one day really make that much difference in getting the stadium ready? That's how much more time there was between the playoff game and the Fiesta bowl this year, one day. I guess it would but...

Boy I get so tired of hearing how the Fiesta Bowl selflessly and single handedly got the thankless Cardinals their stadium. What complete BS. As though they would have had no problems holding onto the BCS in that craphole in Tempe. Very very tired of these self important clowns lord themselves over our NFL team. For the most part, they host a game that no one in the Valley cares about every year. They are never our teams and the locals that do manage to get tickets scalp them to Ohio State fans or the like. I couldn't care less what happens with the Fiesta Bowl this year. They can play the damn thing in Casa Grande for all I care. I enjoy hearing Junker acting like the end times are near. What a fool.

The Fiesta Bowl was part of the package sold to the public for the funding approval to build UOP stadium. Up until this last year if you asked where the biggest impact on the Valley was on a national level and what put UOP/Glendale on the map it ws the Fiesta Bowl and NOT the Cards.

If you have ever been to a Fiesta Bowl and see how the field/stadium is transformed you would understand why the FB is pissed about only have 1 day ( and probably less in real hours) to make their changes. Also remember that it was due to the Fiesta Bowl that that a few thousand more people were able to get in to be part of the NC championshiop game due to the extra seating that they put in UOP - noy the Cards. I doubt the Cards shared any of the ticket revenue with them.

Go Cards !!!!

A team spokesman said that, earlier this year, when 2009 scheduling considerations were supposed to be submitted, staff members were busy with the team's Super Bowl run and failed to notify the league about the scheduling conflict.
That's some fine work there, Lou.

I don't see how you could forget to notify the NFL of that conflict when you have future dates for the Fiesta Bowl years in advance.

Dalton said the NFL has made it clear to the Cardinals that moving the game to another day is not an option. But, he said, the league has assured the Cardinals it would not move the Jan. 3 game to later in the evening to be on prime-time TV. The game kicks off at 2:15 p.m. that Sunday, and should end about 5:15. The Fiesta Bowl is scheduled to kick off at approximately 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 4.
Would the NFL consider an 11:00 AM local kickoff?

I think the Fiesta Bowl and Junker are clear cut whiners and babies about everything thats for sure but they have a contract and the Cards screwed up, end of story.

Cards will have to to or should pay for any inconvenience or extra man power to set up the Fiesta Bowl in a faster time frame. What ever the Fiesta Bowl has to pay for outside the norm should come out of the Cards pocket.

Junker can make life hell for the Cards and NFL if he wants to, but he better watch out because payback is a bitch. If he pushes enough, I am sure the Cards will start looking over the contract line by line to see how many ways they can make Junker's life hell every year legally which I am sure there are plenty.

Does it make you wonder? We are not playing in Green Bay at that time of year.:)

If all us fans promise to clean up around ourselves after the game, will that help in the stadium turnaround?

Maybe they could hang all the Fiesta Bowl banners and crap before our game and just keep them rolled up. As soon as the game is over, they can unfurl them and move on.

PS, the Fiesta Bowl colors suck in our stadium. Blue and orange do not look good with all that red, despite how much they try to cover up our colors!
