About this or the entire college football season in general? Because that would take awhile.

Funny how the Insight Bowl meant so much last year to Koetter and ASU fans.

I'm not really looking forward to any marginal bowls, the goal at Arizona still and always will remain to compete for championships but I also was willing to give Stoops five years to accomplish such a goal. Three years was my breaking point for mediocrity and Stoops has achieved that which has pulled me off the 'fire Stoops' bandwagon.

But if we win it'll be in a bowl game a couple steps behind the Insight Bowl and we've been playing worse for 3 straight years so it really doesn't matter anymore.

ASU has plenty of talent, we just need a coach.
No, you don't. ASU has middle-of-the-road Pac-10 talent and you're seeing that being played out. Until Arizona starts producing more and better players then it's going to have to be coaching that gets Arizona or ASU over the top because we will never consistently have the talent of USC, UCLA, or Cal or Oregon for that matter unless a tradition is established with a big-name coach.

And speaking of coaching, here's some names Iowa State is after.

I'm guessing the ASU list will be somewhat of the same (Harbaugh, Price, Kragthorpe, Erickson) with a couple BS alumni interviews thrown in there.

Which ASU fans on this board are pounding their chests over the Insight Bowl? Playing in bowl games like that are crap and I haven't seen many here who are satisfied with that. Don't put words in our mouth.

Koetter deserves to get fired and should get fired. However, I will never ever ever ever hope to lose to UofA so our coach will get the axe. First of all, how do we know Koetter will get fired if we lose next week anyways???? And most important, I never want to lose to UofA. I hate UofA with a passion and will never hope we lose to them under any circumstance, in any sport. In that sense, I agree with Mao. All these "I don't really care if we lose cause Koetter will get fired" aren't true ASU fans or don't understand the magnitude of this rivalry. Will this be a tough game for ASU? Hell yes but I still think we are the better team with more talent. But I'm also not stupid enough to say UofA has no chance or that if they win it will be good for us. I'm sick of arguing with friends who have the "Koetter will get fired" attitude about this game. It's a cop-out

Well Koetter won't be fired this year. It'll take A LOT of money to fire him and rehire someone else. I expect one more year of this crap. It's okay though, by the time I go there they will have someone new.

I'll pretend like this is a really intense rivalry. ASU must win at all costs, no matter who the head coach is.

I have a gut feeling Dirk will be canned following the UofA game... win or lose.

The buyout is large. However, it pales in comparison to what they'll lose in terms of non-renewals of season ticket revenue over the next few years.

Apathy is frightening low... you don't think Michael Crow and Lisa Love realize that?

Koetter has alienated boosters with his gawd-awful record on the west coast and top-25 teams. And, I've NEVER seen a coach with such a hate-hate relationship with the local media.

This program needs a PROVEN D-1 coach to come in and get this program to the next level. Someone who will command RESPECT from the players, alumni, and media.

With the increasing talent of in-state high-school ballers and ASU's state-of-the-art facilities... there's no reason this program can't compete for a Pac-10 title EVERY YEAR. Expecting anything less should not be an option.

So, the question is who?

- Tom O'Brien. Would bring instant respect.
- June Jones. You though Koetter could coach offense?
- Mike Bellotti. Phil Knight would probably match any offer.
- Greg Schiano. Hard to argue with what he's done at Rutgers.
- Dave McGiness. Defense and passion would never be a problem. Can he recruit?

A bittersweet victory tonight.
Yeah we beat the UofA but on the other hand it means we are stuck with Dirk for another year.

This game shouldn't have influenced the decision one way or another. But, I bet it did.

First of all Koetter will probably still be fired, as many wealthy alums are willing to foot the bill to buy out Koetters contract...Second of all, "the trend is your friend"...look at the trend of ASU's records during Koetter's tenure. If Koetter returns next year, then trust the trend. Numbers don't lie son.

It sure sounded like he will be fired based on the articles in today's Trib. I couldn't beleive what I was reading. A great win over UofA AND Koetter still getting canned? It's like an early Christmas present, if that's what happens!
