You have a split team. You have the guys who want the up tempo and DA style and you have the other that is old school inside out half court. It was doomed to fail when D'Antoni left but you kept his players instead of bringing in guys that could execute & fit with what Porter was brought in here to do. Now that Shaq found his fountain of youth it made the situation only worse. Porter made the choice (right or wrong) to go the Shaq way and Nash and Amare are not geared to play that style and are unhappy about it. How is that Porters fault? No more so than if he played the up tempo and Shaq whined like he has on previous teams. It's a no win situation just as it will be for any new coach. Whatever the choices the management and coach make, it's on the players to buy in and give it their all. That is what a professional does. Blame the coach all you want, but he can olny lay down the foundation. If the players refuse to buy in or give the effort, it clearly lies on their shoulders.

I can agree with that addition. I think you guys are blaming Porter way too much. He really was put in a no win situation.

I actually believe that Shaq comming back as strong as he has this year was ironically not what was best for the team. Had he stabalized into the seconday role then the others would have accepted going that syyle as the secondary option. WIth his surprising emergence and Porter backing, the gap between styles widened. Again, a no win for all involved.

.....and you better get it together enough to make the 8th seed! And you know why I want that!:D

After the performance tonight enough is enough. As Suns fans we may need to root for them to play bad enough to get rid of him. We have Nash, Amare and Shaq along with others. Wish Shaq playing so well it seems we can find a way to use everyone. I would give Gentry the job and if theres not an improvement by the trade deadlne Id consider blowing the team up. It may not be ll Porters faul but it looks like the team has quit on him

no way Kerr fires him. That would make him look like a bigger fool than that video when the drafted Tragic and they were celebrating like they just won the Larry O'Brien trophy.

if Sarver's got any kind of intelligence/cares about the team, he rides this out and dumps both Kerr and Porter at the end of the year and gets a GM who knows what he's doing in here to clear up his mess.

I hope not. I really dont wanna watch this team suck while not trying. If we had poopy players I would be fine with losing, but we have a team that is capable of at least being decent.

Right now the way Shaq is used, he does not fit well with Amare. He ruins any kind of spacing. He crowds the lane so that Amare has to shoot more 18 foot jumpers and when he does drive, its packed because Shaq is down there.

Then you have Nash, who is erratic all game with his turnovers because hes thinking too much. This team still struggles to get it into Shaq and when they force feed him it leads to more Nash turnovers.

Jrich is a guy who should fit well next to Shaq but the way he is being used is not the way he should be used. He can be used as a slasher but him and Nash should be on the wings looking for the ball when defenses collapse on Shaq. Right now that guy is Grant Hill who can not shoot three pointers.

Porter is a ****ing moron. Dude has done nothing for this team. His defenses are erratic and he always seems to switch it up form zone to man at the worst times. His offense consists of 1 play. Clear out and get the ball to Shaq. Amare stands under the basket out of bounds. Shaq makes his move. Jrich/Barnes occasionally slash but are usually out of the play. Nash is ready to catch the ball if they double but he usually makes the pass to HIll in the corner who either misses a three or steps up for the 18 foot jumper.

Why does Porter use a play 50% of the time when it excludes one of the best scorers in the league and two great shooters in Jrich/Nash. It makes no sense at all.

Because of all this, you see players not playing with confidence, you see players not giving it 100% or even 80%. Now it is the players fault for not giving it all but if it can be fixed, why not fix it. Why ruin everyones confidence? Why do all of this just for a coach who has proven to do nothing but ruin any chemistry this team had.

Tank Four More Games And Porter Is Definitely Out
3 horrible losses isnt enough?:bang:

I'm saying a little prayer 2nite that I wake up and see the headline "Porter fired after horrific stretch" next to the headline "Porter comments on firing but as usual, no one can understand what in the hell he said"

Porter needs to go. I thought he'd bring some toughness to this team, right now this team couldn't stand up to WNBA teams.

We just lost to Knicks and weren't even competitive against the Bobcats on consecutive games.... AND SHAQ PLAYED.

I don't have a problem with Porter getting canned at this point. I don't think its going to happen just yet though, but if he does get fired, and Sarver/Kerr decide to try to redirect this teams philosophy back to the way it's been since....well....forever, which is playing small and focusing on outscoring their way to a title then i'm going to take a very long SUNS sabatical.
I can't take anymore of that futile crap.

Here's a scary thought... Kerr takes over the HC position. If Gentry is salivating at the thought of stepping up I imagine he'll get the call but he might not want the job. If he doesn't I could see Kerr taking a shot at it - who knows, he might have hired Porter so he could ride to the rescue... like Isiah did for the Knicks.

I suppose Kerr might not have the 'huevos' to dump him this quick but when it gets this bad, its time to cut your losses. I agree that its not all on Porter - it was a Hellish situation - but he's shown me so little that I'm not interested in him being the coach. I sure as the devil don't want him presiding over, or having a significant role in, a destruction and rebuild.

One thing from Kerr's POV, he looks bad dumping his own man so soon but he could look a lot worse if he tries to ride it out, he could go down with him. He's probably smart enough to see that as a distinct possibility. On the other hand, it wouldn't be painful for most of us to have him gone, too.

This would be the quickest way to get rid of Kerr. Bring him on if he knows so much.

What hellish situation? DA did not leave a bad team behind. Sometimes GMs and coaches make their own hell. Porter doesn't have a clue. He definitely was not the right coach for this Suns team. Kerr thought winning was so easy watching DA and he could make the Suns a defensive team as well by flipping a switch. Now the Suns play poor offense and even worse defense.

I don't care how Kerr looks. If he has any GM skills he has to fix what he created.

The Hellish situation was high expectations for a talented collection of veteran players that did not fit together in a clear cut way. Talented but with serious flaws, especially on defense. Some of them had considerable allegiance to the recently departed coach and to his style of play. Very, very thin on young talent. Whether he had any options on bringing in his own assistant coaches we don't know (I, at least, recall no mention of this) but, in fact, his assistants were mostly inherited or hired for him.

Im sick of:

20+ turnover nights
Pissing away big leads
Shaq "resting"
Amare's lack of intensity
Nash's age showing
Lack of a bench (sound familia)
Horrendous draft picks

Feel free to add to this list. Porter is part of the problem, but is not the only problem. If you are reading this Bryan Colangelo, please come back!

I was never in favor of Porter to begin with. He was a lousy fit for the roster the Suns have/had.
