Anybody try out Firefox 2 yet? I just updated and things are working great. Highly recommended!

Only complaint is that Alt+S no longer submits a post as it is now the History shortcut

What has been improved? Yeah, I could go to the site, but I'd be more interested in hearing what people that use it find as the best improvements.

There are a bunch of behind the scenes things like tightening the security and anti-phishing, but I'm not much of an expert on that. As for the user-end of the upgrades, a couple of things I am liking is the ability to add/delete new search engines quickly (although there were add-ons to do this for FF1.5), the minor tweaks to the tabbed browsing bar, and the addition of a spell checker if you are writing web-based email or posting on message boards (the spell check can also be turned off). There is also the option to turn your bookmarks into "live" bookmarks, where for example if you have cnn.com bookmarked the bookmark will display the top headline. I haven't really been able to look deeply at everything that's new, but those are the things that are most apparent.

Edit: it appears that the spell check doesn't work on ASFN, don't know why.

I have been using the Beta for about a week or two, I guess I need to upgrade.

here is an article talking about the differences between IE7 and FireFox 2.0

Read article

Also - Mozilla is planning on releasing FireFox 3.0 sometime during the first quarter of 2007 and FireFox 4.0 is being planned as well.

I'm on FF2 now. So far no problems.

One thing that weirds me out is when I click on a link that used to open up a new window, now defaults to opening up a new tab.

I think that is probably better, but I just need to get used to closing tabs instead of closing windows.

Yeah, that's how I've used FF for over a year now...always open new tabs.

The fact that Alt-S doesn't work anymore still irks me, I keep forgetting that it has changed.

Do all of your extensions and themes from FF1 get uploaded into FF2 or do you kind of have to sart again from scatch to tweak it how you like it?

The first time you fire up FF2, it automatically checks if your extensions from FF1 will work for FF2 and imports over the ones that work. All my add-ons imported over except for one, and the one that didn't is now a feature built into FF2 from the start.
