How is Arkansas 1000 pts(and 9 spots) behind Auburn who they beat and Arkansas' only loss is to the #2 team in the country?

Arkansas didn't barely beat Auburn either. They beat them by 17 point IN Auburn.

I'm not a Razorback fan but that just makes very little sense. The BCS in general makes little sense to me.

BCS uses human polls. Human polls are biased. That is the reality of no playoff/tournament system.

True but if they beat Oregon AND Cal they deserve to be #1.

I think as long as Ohio State beats Michigan, they will stay at Number one. USC will solidify #2 if they beat Cal and Oregon, but winning their last few games by a few points will only be overcome if they can win big from here on out.

The SEC is rated so high, that a team like West Va or Louisville might not be able to move up even if they have no losses. I think the SEC is tough, but overrated in some ways. If you can get through the SEC undefeated, you deserve a high ranking, but somehow you can also get rewarded by winning "most" of your games.

Boise will still be on the outside looking in unless they can blow out the remainder of thier teams. The good news is, they only have to move up three spots to make a BCS game. The bad news is, they will get jumped if some teams behind them keep winning.

I suspect the BCS and networks would have a party in their pants if USC / Ohio State ended up 1 & 2 and played for the MNC.

Shameful that a dominant, undefeated team has to take a back seat to a team with a loss who is in a "sexier" conference. It should work itself out in the end, but Auburn jumping WVU based solely on its SEC status is ridiculous.

No one talks about the Big East having 3 top 20 teams and a fourth (Pitt) who is 5-1 and knocking on the door of the top 25. Or the fact they are 38-5 against the ACC, SEC, BIG 10, and MAC this year.....

BCS is a joke.

West Virginia could have avoided this had they scheduled somebody with a pulse out of conference. People bitching about the BCS rankings is a joke as every program has the power to vault up the rankings by scheduling properly. What makesit worse is WVU has built up enough of a reputation to get a home-and-home with a perennial power.

USC belongs at #2 because they have played the toughest schedule in the country and are undefeated. I don;t recall too many people bitching about Ohio State's lofty status in 2002 when they beat everyone by a small margin.

Cal is going to beat USC anyways so it won't matter. November 18th at USC, no excuses, primetime game. Will be a great game but USC is having trouble defending the pass this season because they have no pass rush and young DB's.

Cal's pass defense is getting better every week.

I do agree I hate the BCS system, how can Cal be one slot ahead of the same UT team that embarassed them in the first game of the season? or Auburn over Arkansas as has been pointed out.

Umm they did...they were scheduled to play Auburn the 3rd week of the season at WVU and Auburn backed out this summer. Cant say I blame them though. Why risk an out of conference sked like that when you have NC hopes?

Our out of conference sked this year included Maryland (4-2), Miss St (terrible) and a last minute fill in (Easter Washington) for the Auburn game.

I am not sure how WVU could have scheduled more considering these "tough" SEC teams keep backing out.

WVU will end up playing 4 bowl teams this season in Maryland, Rutgers, Pitt, Louisville....

USC being ranked #2 makes no diference to mean...either Cal or Notre Dame or Oregon will beat them

Cal yes, Oregon doubtful they don't throw the ball well enough.

Notre Dame could be interesting with Quinn, but ND has no speed on defense and USC has a fast offense.

USC's offense is just too young, first year starters at QB, RB, FB, much of the OL. In a big game it's going to bite them, especially at RB where the only guy who doesn't seem to fumble is Washington.

And Marshall and East Carolina....

Most NC hopeful teams seem to want to schedule 1 top team per season. When Auburn backed out, poof.... there went WVU's strenghth of schedule. In Louisville's case the fact that Miami is down a bit this year (though they may still have an impressive record at seasons end) hurts them because that was their bread and butter OOC game.

Gotta give USC credit for scheduling both Nebraska and Notre Dame. Plus Arkansas, though I doubt they figured Arkansas would be as good as they are this year.

East Carolina and Maryland are rivalry games we schedule every year. Also VA Tech until they pulled out b/c of their ACC schedule. Marshall will probably be a mainstay b/c it is gonna be a yearly inter-state rivalry.

I am not a Louisville fan at all, but I have routed for them all season. WVU has to beat them when they are undefeated and ranked top 10. That should be a great game. Brohm better be healthy and ready to throw for 400+ yards or I dont see UL standing much of a chance. They wont be able to stop WVU imo.

Mountaineers shouldn't be complaining. Louisville is the winless team getting melted by the BCS. 6th in all polls but 8th in the BCS? If Louisville was located in South Bend, you could guarantee a top 3 ranking right now. This whole system is absurd.

WVU hasn't seen a team this good, let alone on the road in a hostile environment. I think you under estimate the Louisville defense. They have been pretty solid against the run while the offense has been adjusting to life without 2 heisman candidates. People forget UofL has been hit hard by the injury bug not only at QB and RB but on defense as well. Should be a little healthier for the WVU game. Hopefully the Cards can contain the run just enough to make WVU throw the ball. If Brohm and the offense are back in pre-injury form it could too much for the Mountaineers to overcome on the road.

Beating Pitt and Rutgers will not be a cakewalk either. The Big East is surprisingly good this year.

If out of conference scgeduled opponents are backing out of WVU games, WVU is making big $$$$. A typical buyout of a game goes for $350- 500 K.
