There is but this is a very deep draft through Rd's 3-4.

They may be just as content drafting someone at 30 as 20 and wind up with extra picks that could materialise as starters. (see T. Mathieu, A Ellington and poss. Watford). That is what Seattle has done so well. We still have a lot of needs.

This year #20 is a number #10 in last year's draft.

Doubt very much they'll be dropping in the first round.

And Keim has repeated that "need" will not drive his drafting strategy.

That's good. We'll see then who they sign at LT, TE, SOLB, SS, RT, sloit CB, slot WR. Whatever they don't address look for it to be addressed SOON with THEIR BPA. ;)

mitch ,pryor was listed 6-2 before combine and then measured 5-11 he looked also slow today
he is very tenacious player and a hard hitter.but keim said he want a fast tall safety..pryor is shorter then bell and as fast as him.

Kenny Vaccaro ran a 4.62 last year and is 6' so don't think that would preclude him from being a good NFL safety.

I say with the first pick because I think there is a good possibility that Steve Keim will trade down to add extra picks and added flexibility in what is a very deep draft.

I don't think the Cardinals need to take more than 7 players in this draft because it will be hard for the later picks to make the team this year.

3. OLB Kyle Van Noy, BYU. Love his motor and excellent versatility.

I have been with you on Van Noy but his speed is pretty pedestrian for our needs as a guy to rush the QB.

I agree with the limited number of guys making the roster. What did you think of Stanley Jean-Baptiste? Nice height and vertical jump but at 4.61 not sure he can hang as an NFL corner. What round do you think he goes?

Late second/early third. Teams are going to try and copy the Seahawks.

Sherman is faster 4.56 vs 4.61 but looking back at his draft analysis it is funny to see how he exceeded those projections. Maybe Jean-Babtiste could too.

Overview Sherman

Sherman is a size prospect with some good intangibles that will help him mold into a contributing backup corner for a press-heavy team. However, he does not possess the natural coverage instincts, fluidity or burst to be considered a future starter. Is comfortable and capable in press man, using his size to disrupt receivers' releases off the line, but doesn't show enough make up speed to consistently recover when beaten. Awareness in zone and off-man are only adequate. Has average ball skills but some upside as a playmaker. Tough against the run but still developing from a technical standpoint. Sherman is a Day 3 prospect.
Analysis
Strengths
Sherman possesses rare height for a corner with enough bulk and speed. Effective when lined up at the line in press man coverage. Uses length well and established sound initial positioning. Flashes the ability to turn and run. Flashes the ability to high-point the football. Willing to help out in run support.
Weaknesses
Can be baited out of position when in zone and a tick late to diagnose underneath routes. Tall, high-cut prospect who displays some hip-stiffness. Not explosive when transitioning or when changing direction. Lacks great recovery skills when beaten off the line. Can struggle tacking in the open field at times.

Overview Jean-Babtiste

Converted from wide receiver to cornerback. 2013: Second-team All-Big Ten pick. Tied for most interceptions on team with four and led team with 12 pass breakups. 2012: Played in 14 games and started five. Led team with nine pass breakups and had a 48-yard interception return for a touchdown against Minnesota. 2011: Played in nine games and started one. 2010: Redshirted. Misc.: Following high school, Jean-Baptiste spent one at North Carolina Tech Prep with 36 receptions for 580 yards.
Analysis
Strengths
Outstanding size and length to mix it up with bigger receivers. Good balance and body control. Jumps routes. Has good hands to intercept and can highpoint throws. Flashes functional strength to reroute receivers, discard blocks and tackle ball carriers. Very productive on the ball in limited time as a starter -- 21 pass PBUs and 6 INTs in 17 starts at Nebraska. Works to get better and made strides as a senior.
Weaknesses
Stiff hips. Is not a quick-twitch athlete and struggles to mirror sudden receivers. Lacks elite top-end speed (long-strider). Green positional instincts. Picks and chooses his spots to be physical -- inconsistent run defender. Has tweener traits. Football aptitude is lacking -- could struggle to grasp and execute complex assignments. Will be a 24-year-old rookie.
Bottom Line
A receiver-turned-cornerback in a safety’s body, Jean-Baptiste looks the part and has intriguing ball skills, strength and upside, though he lacks elite athletic ability, is smoother than he is sudden and does not consistently play to his size. Workout numbers will dictate his ultimate role and draft value, but on tape shows skills to warrant developmental consideration from teams employing press or Cover 2.

Would love Baptiste in the 2nd or 3rd doubt he falls to us in round 3. Still pretty raw but has crazy upside

Exactly!!!

Lets not forget Earl Thomas is 5'10" & he's a terrible player too. ;)
To me that's the comparison I see in Pryor. If he's a Cardinal, nobody on this board will be disappointed in his play 10yrs from now. I'm not worried about the height, get a playmaker at #20!

Imagine how much nastier our D becomes if we were lucky enough for him to be on the board at 20 :D

Mitch I truely believe he doesn't get no further or past the Cowpies unfortunately.

6. QB Jimmy Garoppolo, Eastern Illinois. Love the quick release and good feet. Showed impressive leadership in the All-Star games, which isn't as easy as it may seem.

Love this kid. I think he will be the best QB out of this draft class when it's all said and done. Could be a second round steal for someone.

I luv that kid too MCD!!! I really believe someone's gonna draft him sometime in the 1st though because of how QB starved many teams are. Look at Ponder & others that had zero business going round 1 IMO.

I wish the Cards were smart enough that if he's there @ 33 & the Texans have 1 of those QBs, we trade up to draft him. Regardless of what BA says, this team needs a young stud QB or it could lead to his firing after Carson is done in a few years.

Unless the Bears pass on Donald. Then Jerry Jones cracks a smile through

his plastic face and takes Aaron Donald. The Cowboys could get Dixon

or Buchanon in the second.

The other guy I keep getting a feeling about the Cards drafting is Shazier. He weighed in at 237, which is still smallish, but he showed great speed and explosion and he plays non-stop. I question his ability as a 3-4 OLB but with guys like Kaep and Wilson, the traditional size requirements for a 3-4 OLB may be evolving into more run and chase guys.

I would love to see Shazier and Washington on the same defense. So much speed and good football instincts. Maybe pairing them with a couple bigger guys like Dansby and Shaughnessy could make it work. I also like the fact he would have at least one year to learn from Abraham.

Shazier has such a great speed rush on the outside, that maybe he forces formations to keep the tight end more on passing downs. Not sure I really believe myself, but I just think he is going to play well in the NFL. He is so fast and his frame looks like he could add more weight.

Mitch, I keep going back to SK's claim that he's looking for length and speed on defense. Think it's a smokescreen?

I like length and jumping ability. That is what Campbell has and he is no smoke screen. To Tall Jones was another good example. What is a blocked pass worth?

I'm really starting to like Shazier at 20. He reminds of a slightly smaller but faster Navarro Bowman. They both can make plays all over the field but Shazier brings a little more pass rush ability.
