Plot Summary: In this hilarious comedy, Durell (Ice Cube) and LeeJohn (Tracy Morgan) are best friends and bumbling petty criminals. When told they have one week to pay a $17,000 debt or Durell will lose his son, they come up with a desperate scheme to rob their neighborhood church. Instead, they end up spending the night in the presence of the Lord and are forced to deal with much more than they bargained for.

The all-star cast also includes Katt Williams as Rickey, the flamboyant church choir-director, Chi McBride as the Pastor, Malinda Williams as his outspoken daughter and Regina Hall as the mother of Durell's son.

Finally saw this. Watched it on a whim. I liked it. I think all of these Ice Cube movies have some heart.

A situation very much like this one happened at my dad's church in south Phoenix back in 1975, and I've heard other stories like it. So as corny as the premise seemed (and the conclusion) it's not unheard of.

Only disappointment was Tracy Morgan was kept on a leash. The man can be a one-man wrecking crew and steal every scene, but he actually had a bit of drama to pull off, so he was kept fairly tame. I'd never seen Katt Williams before, but he was *perfectly* cast as the choir director.

It's not fall out of your seat funny. It's more charming if anything. Great for a Saturday afternoon. Keep in mind I grew up in that environment -- inner-city churches -- so my perspective is skewed. I've also had a strange, inexplicable crush on Loretta Devine, so ... yah, I'll confess to that.
