I made the statement just before our first regular season game that the Cards possessed the best WR corps in the league... Some felt it was a bit premature to make that claim as Breaston was sitll unproven. However I really felt that I was seeing something special in this kid.
Now, 6 weeks into the season, I am all the more sure of this statement... I challenge anyone to name a better group of receivers on any NFL team... can't be done!!!

No argument here. We all knew what we had in Fitz and Q. Breaston has proven to be a solid if not impressive #2 WR at this point. Fitz continues to improve, scary thought for opposing D's and Q is....well Q.

I loved Bryant Johnson, but Steve Breaston is a big upgrade over B.J. as a RELIABLE third receiver who can step in as a #2 when needed, and adds the punt return abilities that B.J. never had.

I do hope Q is back healthy for the Carolina game. We need all our bullets for this crucial road game against a potential playoff opponent.

C'mon, there is no comparison of Breaston with BJ, the skillet hands... Breaston has completely outperformed BJ in his last three games alone. What did BJ do when he was given the chance last season with Boldin out 3 games? Zip, nada, zero. On the other hand, Breaston has turned into a VERY dependent receiver with NO drops and some huge catches.

Breaston... incredibly impressive. incredibly impressive.

and yes, I now believe without a doubt, with Q healthy, we have the bar none the best WR core in the league.

Man where did we get this guy. He was just a 5th rounder last year.
BJ was a 1st round bust for how many years? He's now dropping passes for SF.
We have to give BJ props for taking up salary cap room for our NFC west rivals.

Steve-O!!

What a huge difference one offseason made! After being a subpar college receiver and being drafted late as a return man, he's become a solid-to-good NFL receiver. Last year, when given chances he didn't show much improvement, but this year - wow! I was really surprised at his effort after the catch in the Dallas game. He was fighting for the tough yards after contact that you don't see the 185 pounders do that often.

When he was drafted I posted that he looked like Arnold Jackson part II. I couldn't have been more wrong. :doofus:

Breaston is confirming what I said earlier this year, that with WR's from Michigan do the opposite of whatever I say. If I say draft David Terrell, don't draft him, if I say Breaston is just a KR, ignore me.

What a find this kid is stepping it up when we needed it the most.

Ut oh, by complementing him, did you just doom him then?

Haven't seen much Cleveland this season, but doesn't it seem like Steve is outplaying Braylon Edwards? Edwards has had a ton of drops.

I'm hard pressed to remember any player we've ever had progressing as much as Breaston has between year 1 and 2. Last year, it was about 50/50 if he'd catch the ball. He really struggled in the camps last year as well. Now, it's like he's Lester Hayes with his mitts slathered with stick'em.

I think we need to work on running the ball better as the season goes on, but it's going to be very tempting to air it out.
