He did just say that Andy Reid doesn't let good QBs go.

...and that he thinks John Skelton should be the starting QB.

I took notes! (He's still on but talking about the NFL in general) Here's what he said, not exact quotes:

Fitz senior wasn't at camp. He said "I see what you see. The Cardinals aren't producing with either Skelton or Kolb. Good for the media. But not for Coach Whizzy (that's a direct quote) who might loose more hair on his head.

Says Cardinals got "fleeced" on Kolb's contract. I think. I'll need a backup on that but I think that's what the man said.

Said Kolb doesn't have a lot of friends in the locker room.

Said it's been "frustrating" for Larry. Larry wants to win but also wants to be a good teammate. Larry doesn't want to be a "trouble maker or rabble rouser". Said if the team can play like Kurt Warner did Larry will produce.

Sr said team has HOF OL coach but isn't producing. (Well there's a shocker, Larry Sr.) Said QB has to "exude confidence" but implied Kolb isn't. Says if they find a way to do that they'll win.

Says time will tell with Floyd. He said it took time for Larry to work out and it will take time for Flloyd.

Larry hasn't peaked yet but says with the OL line better and a QB he will get better and better.

Need to turn page on notes...

He's not discussing much with Larry (that was interesting) but says it's nagging at him.

He said he and Larry had "their issues" but didn't much elaborate. Larry Sr. didn't go to training camp to "stay out of it". Says Larry hasn't come to him yet to "talk it out". I kind of got the impression all is not well with Dad and son. Someone else may elaborate on that.

Said Larry had a hard time with his teammates when he first became a Cardinal because a lot of the team thought he was there because of his friendship with Denny. Said it was hard on Larry. And that he is talking more now because that pressure is off and he's becoming more polished. Said he was quiet in his interviews in the beginning because of the thing with Denny hiring him. He feels more confident now.

And that's the end of my notes.

I'm surprised Fitz Jr. hasnt shoved a sock down his throat.

Fitz Sr. says some of the most asinine things that would put any son in a compromising, uncomfortable position.

And he was wearing a truly awful shirt and white shoes. Larry must have gotten his fashion sense from his mother.

Dems, sadly Whiz doesn't seem to instill confidence in ANYONE playing QB for the Cardinals. The last QB I recall him having real confidence in was Brian St. Pierre, who he brought with him from Pittsburgh. He didn't even instill a lot of confidence in Warner, refusing to turn the play-calling over to him, and the man was a HOF'er.

I'm wondering if that's why Fitz Sr. wasn't at camp. Something is definitely up between father and son but he didn't say enough to learn if it was because Larry Sr talks too much or if it's something else. The reporter in me says not to comment (because he really didn't say and it's all reading between the lines) but the fan says "Uh, oh. All is not well in the House of Fitzgerald."

Senior will be at Larry's Morton charity event tomorrow night. If y'all want to pony up I'll go and take notes on my napkin. :)

Fitz senior is a complete and total loud mouth and full of himself and it is not the Cardinals to him winning that is important, it is simply his son catching balls so he himself has a name to justify his own blabbering. I cannot stand the guy and have often thought Fitz turned out the way he did due to his late mother who must have been a very special person in his life that installed the character of what Larry is today (God bless her for doing an amazing job)...oh, Larry's brother is what you get when Fitz senior raises a kid (another irritating self opinionated loudmouth) :)

As much as I agree with just about everything he said, as a star players dad (and a member of the media) he cant pop off like that. It makes Larry look really bad to have his dad telling the world that Kolb's teammates dont like him.

Yeah 12 news (err..azcentral sports show) was asking a ton of questions about the Kolb situation. Fitz Sr. was just sitting back, relaxed as all can be answering them. The whole first segment was basically about Larry, Kolb, or both.

For some reason I picture him as the dad that pushes their kids in sports really hard, and are hard to satisfy. Probably backed off a good bit since Fitz got in the NFL/College, but still pushes him, and maybe at times grounds him. (I mean from cloud 9 or whatever, not to his room lol)

His dad is really outspoken. The whole 'larry got crap about being drafted by Denny' info reminds me of parents who will bring up anything and inadvertently embarrass their kid.

But the guy knows football, and was very well versed about the topics. Bested Jay Taylor's explanations, and maybe everyone on the panel.

Oh and he also said the cardinals might say look we paid Kolb, and we need to see what he's worth. Don't know if he knows anything, or just using the old, money decides thing, but said Kolb isn't living up to the contract....and I think questioned if he ever would.

Also his answer to the question about whether he sees Kolb or anyone else as a franchise QB was pretty funny. Something to the effect of at least regarding Kolb, "I don't know if I'd use the word franchise".

He also said that the offense starts with the OL and then with the most important position, QB. Need those two things in place.

Said losing Levi was big, and said something like we need to figure it out. Somehow got across (maybe nonverbally and with the name mention) that Young was a disaster.

I watched it

he was clearing the Air- that shirt was a little tight - and he slunked back in his chair- belongs in the newspaper! But Had a powerful nononsense personality.

He said he and his son has their differences, but totally respected not just what he does on the field but off- and how He goes to Chris Carter- Randy Moss and others to become a better player. Took some credit for Larry's good points, as well he should.

He tried to answer the questions- the questions were leading and negative too. But in the end He said it is not over- ihas not played out yet and there still is a chance thhat they turn this around in the regular season.

He said He thinks Skelton has earned it, but the Cardinals were fleeced on the Kolb deal- yes those were his words. Said there is no way he should have got the contract he got- unproven- And Andy Reid is known for developing QB's- and if they are good he don't let them go.

Praised Denny Green. And said Fitz was happy to be drafted by Denny. Praised Luck and RG3 - and sidestepped some of the system vs QB questions- But one of them did say what i've said for a couple years- Our System is flawed.

Fitz Sr. and little Marcus have consistently said things that put Larry in an awkward position. Larry couldn't be more opposite then those two and it makes the way he carries himself all the more impressive.

This is an accurate portrayal of Fitz Sr. Fitz Jr. has ALWAYS had an average (at best) relationship with his Dad. Fitz's Mom has always been his inspiration. Her memory is what pushes him to be the best he can be. She, no doubt was a special person, and had such an influence on Larry Jr. Dad loves to hear himself talk & isn't nearly as knowledgeable of what's going on with the Cardinals. Fitz has stayed on with the Cardinals because he LOVES Whiz & TRULY believes in Whiz's system. Dad speaking out on flaws in the system are HIS opinions & do not reflect his son's take. With the QB position so critical, teams HAVE to take risks in order to find their guy. It's beginning to look like the Seahawks may have erred with Flynn also. Even if Kolb isn't the guy, I don't blame the Cardinals for going after him. Moving forward, finding your QB may consist of the following:

1. If you have a top 5 pick, take a QB
2. Continue to develop what you have on your roster
3. Draft a QB EVERY year. You'll eventually strike gold.
4. Bring in a veteran QB every year. Someone in the 35 yr old range that has a resume in the NFL, yet may still have a couple of years in him. Similar to what we did with Warner. If 1-3 above fails, you have this to fall back on.

When a WR is your most important player on your team, the best player on your team you have utterly failed in composing a football team.

I love LF, but come on, who farking cares?

Play football, score TD's win games.

In the words of a great QB, "talk is cheap"
