On PFT, they have audio of L. Fitz mentioning philly as one of 4 teams he'd like to play for. Its not rumor because its larry speaking so...

I think we need to all come to grips with the fact that Larry is not in the plans for the future of this team. Sucks ......

If we end up trading him for picks then at least make an effort to draft manningham and sign BJ then. We are, and always have been, a passing team. I've never been a graves basher but after he f'ed up Fitz's contract he should be given 1 chance to right the ship, if not.......chuck his fat ass out in the street

If we trade Fitz, it better be for the #1 overall so we can draft McFadden and change our offensive gameplan completely.

And for the record, I hate trading proven All-Pro players like Fitz for draft picks.

Mountian out of a mole hill.

Put it into contex. "Though Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald wants to stay in Arizona, he told WIP radio on Wednesday that the Philadelphia Eagles are one of four other teams for which he'd be happy to play, if he is traded."

If there is one thing players in the NFL know is that you dont burn your bridges becuase you can always become a free agent down the road for one reason or another. For example, Suggs was asked by a Phoenix sports person if he would like to play for the Cardinals next year, of course he wasnt going to say no, he did the write answer of, Yes I would love to play for the Cardinals. If Fitz was asked by a Miami sports station Miami would have been one of the teams.

Again, mountians out of mole hills.

He was asked a question as to which team he would like to play if he was traded.

Fitz is in a great spot. He can make 32M in two years and then become a free agent at the age of 26. If Cards franchise him at that point - he will command at least 20M. This equates to 52M in three years.

The catch... Why would he want to be traded if he cannot get a contract of equivalent value from the team that wants him. From a financial perspective, not many teams will want to fork over 32M for 2 years and give draft picks to Cards.

If he re-negotiates, he will still want at the minimum, what he is going to make, albeit as a signing bonus.

The only leverage the Cards have is the risk of career ending, or career degrading injury during this upcoming season.

yes, if he stays healthy and isnt cut, he will get that money -- but what if he doesnt?

make no mistake, for signing a long term extension, he will get a massive signing bonus -- something around or north of $25 mm, with nice annual salaries to boot.

one player on our team is going to command 32 million in the next 2 years. Thats not a molehill....its a mountian. We need to straighten this mess out immediately IMO.

Fitz is not going to make $53M guaranteed in the next 3 years. It will probably be less than half of that.

half of 53 is 26.5 million He's making 15 million this year? So Next year he only makes 11.5 and then no franchise tag I assume?

explain?

The Cards won't sit back and let Fitz make 18M this year, and another 18M (or whatever his number is) next year without restructuring his deal. He won't go through both years, and then get franchised.

You are confusing what he will make in 3 years and what it will count towards the cap in 3 years.

30 Mill signing bonus divided out over 7 years = 4.285 Mill a season
Add in 7, 8, and 9 Mill base salary each season.

36.855 Mill against our cap over the next 3 seasons. 54 Mill. In Fitz pockett over the next 3 seasons.

Fitz can still make what he will put into his packet over the next 2-3 seasons on his current deal and knock off about 7 Mill of cap space per season.

And it doesnt even have to be a 30 Mill signing bonus this season on a new deal, we can add in roster bonsues or option bonuses in years 2 and 3 to lower the upfront year 1 costs and still have him be able to make the same amount of money he would have originally made.

I hate losing our 1st round picks on a regular basis. I would guess we have lost more 1st round picks than anyone in the NFL in the past ten years or more. You can never succeed with this kind of performance. Is it the players just do not want to play for ?????????? The owners, the coach, the Airizona Cardinals, Graves, a team with a forever losing record, the location, or the money? This is not accident and we need to identify the cause of all this?

It would seem to me Graves or whoever is really in charge call Larry in and tell him he is very much a part of our long range plans. Directly ask him what his long range plans are? That would seem like a grown up way of dealing with this. Do not just let it sit and fester and leave everyone wondering and rumors growing. If he is unhappy then ask him why and can it be resolved?

I heard on PCF that Larry Fitz said he wouldn't mind playing on any NFL team as long as he gets a paycheck...

Take it for what is worth....

What makes you think that hasn't been done already?

Here is a quote directly from Fitzgerald:
“Hopefully we can get something done,” said Fitzgerald, whose salary is scheduled to be almost $15 million in 2008. We are working on it now. I want to be a Cardinal.”
Fitzgerald was asked about the trade talk that has come up on a national basis. Fitzgerald said he has not talked to the organization about any such scenario.
“I have not talked to them about trades or anything, but I want to be a Cardinal, I enjoy it here, I love my teammates and I love playing for the Bidwills,” Fitzgerald said.
Straight from his mouth; it doesn't sound as though Fitz has any issues about remaining a Cardinal long term.

One shouldn't put much creedence in the off-season rumor mill.

And I would need to be put away. The sight of Fitz wearing a hefty green 11 would cause me undue mental anguish.

If I'm Fitz, it would take a pretty big new contract to make me redo my last 2 years. If he stands pat, and has another good year, he can make $15M this season and then get a huge new contract next season. He just has to decide what his injury risk is.

It seems like we are pretty much screwed here. It makes me think of teams like the Patriots and the Colts where the highest money players like Brady and Manning are willing to redo their contracts to keep other good players. A team like ours, you never really see that happen. When players price themselves out they just jump ship like Leonard Davis and possibly Fitz. If we end up losing Fitz for some fourth round pick or for nothing or whatever, Graves should get fired immediately. Way to build a team, moron.

The problem with posts like, Fitz is being traded etc, it encourage insipid posts. During slow time ya' need to post stupid stuff..not facts. This equates to the talking heads to continue to talk about Brady's ankle after he said a week ago he is fine and there is not problem. Anyone remember when they asked Doug Williams how long he has been a black quarterback?? Same type of stuff.

Last year for those of you who don't remember, we had over 18 pages of stuff when we signed Gandy. I for one "knew" he was going to be a plus for us, but we had a number of posters who thought it was Wayne Gandy and was 36 years old with assorted other nonsense. I assure you 95% of the posters wouldn't know if he played for ND in South Bend or the Church in France.
