I just thought it was a weak argument. Yes, they deserve cash cause the owners make carzy cash (didn't I already say this?), but the life and limb stuff seemed very, very weak.

Definitely not the best leg to stand on, but still.

When the player IS FORCING the team to be inactive during FA, he has some fault.

The CARDINALS as an organization are trying to make the team better. Spread the $$$ around so that they can improve the talent. Cards MUST be able to be active during FA.

You won't find anything from the mouth of Graves, or Urban, saying the Cards EVER planned to be active early in free agency. In fact, you'll find a statements from Graves saying we can live with his current number. And, you'll find Urban saying they are still going to go after the guys they targeted this upcoming week.

I always find these threads amusing. People holding a guy like Fitz up to some standard about being a team player in contract negotiations and how dare he "hamstring" the team like this yet the minute he loses 1/4 of a step or starts to falter, the fans and team immediately yell about cutting the guy.

So how does it work if Fitz becomes a team guy and "helps the Cards out"? When he starts to decline in a couple years (hypothetically), the Cards will then be the team players and keep Fitz around for the rest of his contract and any bonuses produced by said contract?

Yeah, right.

Fitz is in the drivers seat and Graves put him there. Fitz should get what every single FA player out there should get...what the market will bear.

The disdain on this board is unreal. I guess it is easy to forget that these players risk death (albeit small) every snap and are pretty much guaranteed to have some lasting physical effects after the age of 40.
I dont buy this as a rationale, for it can be just as easily argued that the players know the risks going in...

I see, so it's Larry Fitzgerald's responsibility to manage the budget, create salary flexibility, and improve the team? Of course, the GM has no say in these matters. Evil Larry and his minions are creating this mess.

When is the guy who co-signed Larry's contract going to be held responsible in the eyes of you front office apologists?

So if/when the Cardinals trade him, how many of you who are calling Fitz Satan now will be bitching that Arizona should have never let him go?

I'm gonna bet the over under on 95 percent of you.

Of course, it's all on Fitzgerald and Eugene Parker..

Screw that. Fitz should demand what the market will bear. Any of you who say you wouldnt do the same, be sure to march into your bosses office tomorrow and demand a pay cut.

But not at the expence of your Teammates, Fans, and City that you play in. The Cardinals have been more than fair with Fitz. Now it is time for him to deliver for us who have paid so much for so many years and have gotten nothing in exchange. If it is true that the cardinals wanty to pay Fitz as the highest paid wide-out in the leagues history and Fitz and his agent are pulling our chain the dump the "BASTARD," Go and sign Isaac Bruce for he will add more to this team as he has more speed than Fitz. and draft a wideout early in the draft.

We have had so many primidonnas (SP) on this team it is about time for us to reap some bennift's now, not next year.

That Line they keep feeding is a load of crap. If it were true then we offered Fitz 100 Million dollars because that is what Moss got in 2001. I can say with a certainty that we did not offer him 100 Mill.

Yeah.. That's a plan. Isaac Bruce is about 3 or 4 years removed from being pertinent in the NFL game.. As for the WR in the draft, nevermind the fact that there's not one in this class who could carry Fitzgerald's jockstrap talent-wise.. Let's trade him somewhere else and when he spends the next 10-12 years putting up Pro Bowl and Hall of Fame potential productivity, we all can sit around and bitch how he SHOULD be a Card.

Sounds like a plan to me.

This isn't a slam towards you Bobcat, it's just your post, which seemingly speaks for a loud majority, that I pointed out for my vent.

Build from the inside out, running back all the way to strong safety. I don't want to sell jerseys, I want to win football games.

...or take a pay cut by converting that reduced pay into stock options for 5 years as long as you are with the company...

That's a weak arguement Adam. Most of us aren't employed by businesses that are competing with 31 other businesses for one prize with a limited number of employees available.

Graves started this mess, and is now begging Fitz. Larry is already rich beyond his wildest and will continue to be.

Essentially the Cards are asking him to take one for the team when he doesn't need to (and truthfully shouldn't have to be asked to).

Either way, the bottom line is this: Graves is inept and Fitz is greedy. No other way to cut it. It's a messy situation.
I say most, probably all, would do the same if they were in Fitz place.

Fitz says they're close, Faneca's agent, amongst other players, have indicated their players wanting to play for AZ, but theFitz deal is holding evrything up. AND, again, Fitz has reitorated wanting to stay here.
JUST CLOSE IT FITZ. The ball is surely in your court. Get as close to what you want, moneywise, and let the team get closer to making you a SB contender foir years to come.
Get it done. Everyone, quit taking sides, and try to look at what's best, as far as our chances, to get to the next level.

We the fans are the reason they get so much cash. If you guys are so fed up with how much money these guys are making and how greedy they are getting then stop going to games, buying NFL merchandise, and watching games. To do anything else and still complain about the wages of the players would make one a hypocrite.
