The stats for charges drawn for the regular season are out. For all of Shaq's complaining about the floppers winning the first one it is interesting that Phoenix drew more charges than San Antonio and that Manu Ginobili drew fewer charges than Steve Nash, Raja Bell, and Grant Hill.

Those in bold denote playoff teams or players in playoff teams.

Top Ten list for Offensive Fouls drawn:

1. Derek Fisher (54)
2. Andrew Bogut (53)
3. Mikki Moore (51)

6. Allen Iverson (46)
7. Jermaine O'Neal (45)
8, 9, 10. Mike Dunleavy, Monta Ellis, Luis Scola (42)

Team listings

1. Indiana - 210
2. Memphis - 194
3. Milwaukee - 189
4. Golden State - 188
5. Chicago - 187
6. Utah - 183
7. Portland - 180
8. Boston - 178
9. Phoenix - 173
10. Sacramento - 166
11. San Antonio - 158

28. Seattle - 106
29. New Orleans - 97

I don't really see how charges = flopping.

Flopping is more than just faking someone charging on you.

Nice try, but charges do not denote flopping, nor does it come close to the same thing. For instance, as an offensive player, one can flop in order to draw a foul on the defender... charges are for drawing the foul on the offensive player.

Go back to the drawing board, your stats mean nothing - except, those are the list of players that try and get in your way as a defensive maneuver in order to draw a charge. They may flop while in this act... but they may not.

The funniest part of all this is that Shaq is routinely seen flopping while taking a charge.

We are expected to believe his 7ft, 400 pound frame can be knocked over by Tony Parker, lol.

One of the fouls he picked up in game 1 was a blocking foul in which Shaq tried to take a charge and flew backwards. AKA, Flopping.

So Shaq should stay on his feet and let a player on full speed slam into him everytime because he is big and not try to draw a charge. yes Tony may not be able to drop Shaq on his behind but he can definetly move him. That stats is BS and comparing flopping to taking charges is just plain stupid. Grant Hill aggravated groin injury was caused by taken a charge not like when Ginobili is pullng on a player and falling at the same time or Oberto collapsing because Shaq straightened up. The only sun That sometimes adopt flopping is Raja and i notice Boris gives it a try now and then, Nash and Hill are good at taking charges.
Anyone who compares Flopping and taking musnt have played basketball in his life.

Pointless, taking a charge is NOT the same as flopping on any contact. Nash takes charges he doesn't fall down on the perimiter like he got ran over by a truck like Manu big difference.

flopping on offense is probably more prevalent in the NBA. And as mike says charges are not equal to flops. A Flop is a faked or dramatized contact that is intended to draw fouls when the degree of contact energy is not enough to get that foul. Frankly flopping on offense is more damaging as it tends to bring on foul trouble faster.

Dwade is a flopper as well, Im sure you can find more instances of him flopping. Flopping is part of the winning formula in todays NBA, and it shouldnt be. Anyone who doesnt flop is at a disadvantage. Bitter heat fans, you guys should be happy right now after tanking so well. You should get a nice pick and have plenty of salary cap room to maneuver. With shaq you had no chance of doing anything with that terrible roster, its time to rebuild after the poseys etc left town for greener pastures. At least now Dwade will get some decent role players so he doesnt have to take such a beating.

He is whinning because he is not doing anything remotely close to making them flop and i honestly believe he made the comment to get into the head of the officials and Spurs (a PJ tactics)and it worked in game 2 did you see any ticky tack foul called or Oberto flopping a lot.
Shaq deserves to whine sometime considering how he is fouled night in night out in this league. As a visitor to this Forum for many months i know you are a Shaq basher and i am sure there is nothing he can do that is right in your eyes after bashing Riley, get over it dude. He helped you guys get a championship anyways, his name is forever written in the history of Miami.

Semantics guys.

Those are good stats.

Like it or not, most charges are taken because the player drawing the charge flopped. Rarely do you see an actual charge where the offensive player actually bulls over a defender.

If you account that parker and manu(TD doesnt flop) missed alot of games this year, the spurs are probably still ahead in the charges per game for the guys that actually play when everyone is healthy. And KT only has been there for one third of the season, so it goes up further. Dont sell the spurs short, just because they lost a lot of time due to injuries and sat these guys out.

But EVERY team in the League flops!! NOT just the Spurs! My pathetic team flops too! To say that this team flops more than your own team does is meaningless and has no impact on winning or losing a playoff series. If your team is truely better than the opposing team, than flopping is not even a concern. Worrying about the opposing team flopping more is a pathetic attempt to find yet another reason to add to the excuses list on why your team continues to fail.

Wow. Talk about rose colored glasses.

I'm not saying Manu doesn't flop. Anyone who says he doesn't is a moron or full of S. But to say Nash doesn't flop is just as ridiculous.

No Nash dosent flop, he takes charges. you people easily criticize him for being a bad defender against stronger PG but are quick to turn around and say he flops when he takes a charge from the same bigger, stronger PG who is senselessly barreling down the lane trying to take adavantage of his size.

You need to consider offensive flops to appreciate the difference between nash and manu. Manu has been selling contact at the academy award level for years and getting the fouls called even when NO CONTACT at all occurs. Only in the last year of so have the refs tried to moderate manus oflops. Nash almost never gets a foul on a penetration even when kicked and grabbed. He is obviously not successful as an oflopper, Manu, parker(always falls down and rolls around on a drive), and Billups are much better there.

I think you Hollinger wannabe's that see those stats and think they disprove the myth/fact that the Spurs are big time floppers should actually watch a game. Watch all of the BS acting going on.

Flopping on offense and defense is a euro/FIBA contribution to the NBA, starting way back with vlade divacs. The spurs euros and very good at it, have proven that it helps win championships. American players at first thought it undignified to flop, but had to join in as time went by. You can get the opponent inf oul trouble, especially with offensive flopping as you control the contact, force it(no so with charges, they control it). It results in free foul shots when you have trouble breaking down the defense, and in getting the defender in foul trouble. Getting the opponent in foul trouble is huge in the NBA, because after that, they LET you shoot with little contesting of the shot.

nash is good at rotating on D. thats why he picks up charges in the paint,
not flopping in the paint(i.e. kt & flopberto),
not flopping out on the perimiter w/ flailing arms, ie. GINAbli.

In a van...down by the river.

You are correct sir.
charges does NOT equal flopping
Manure initiates contact when he's on offense........ and defensively he doesn't try to get position in order to take the charge ala' Nash, he simply acts as though he's been hit by a bus everytime an offensive player attempts a shot on him:rolleyes:

C'mon now. You can go on youtube and find a vid of EVERY team in the NBA flopping.

Once again.....

Of course alot of players flop. If you want to see who flops the most on offense, just watch how many times a guy falls down or throws himself around when they dribble penetrate. It has gotten so bad in the NBA, players that dont flop are penalized by losing the competitive advantage that is the reward for flopping. Its not about "everyone does it so its OK". Its about how its "shouldnt be supported by the officiating, and its bad for the game of basketball, its not OK". When the champions do it, everyone else will emulate it. This is one reason for camera replays, and perhaps a replay can be called a few times and the foul(plus a technical) can be reassigned to the flopper instead of the flopee.

No doubt those are flops but i cant believe you trying to compare your videos with the ones posted by nowagimp, Ginobili and oberto flops when nothing is done Raja flopped after ginobili dipped his shoulder, yes the Spurs are not the only ones but they are the worst and most disgusting bunch of floppers the league has ever seen.
I hate that Big nose Gremlin!!!!!!!!!!!!
