Agreed. I think cutting him was an emotional reaction that cost them a pick. I doubt Belichick would have reacted that way. He likes those comp picks.Honestly I wish we would have kept him on the roster til the end of the season. (Inactive). He would have factored in for compensatory picks because SOMEONE would have signed him. Big contract or not.
Something tells me the Pats won't get anything more than a 7th if anything given he played 2 games for them.So it's sounding like they will let him walk and get the comp pick.
There has to be more to this story we have not heard yet. It wasn't just a bad season, his entire style of play changed. He seemed unable, much of the time, to catch the ball without using his body. His routes were less precise. He had more trouble than he historically did with press coverage. I've never seen a receiver fall off like this unless some impairment was involved. He surprised me when he passed the Pats' physical. It wasn't a hangover or concentration in my estimation. Something else was going on.
To get a comp pick, another team is going to have to give him a contract. That's no sure thing at this point.

There will be a couple of players on the ATL and NE roster that will get rings too without having played a down this season. Does it really matter at this point? If Floyd gets a ring fine, he got lucky. No one ever said life is fair. The FO over reacted and blew it. They could have suspended him for the balance of the season or maybe even placed Floyd on IR or just kept him on the roster and inactive him for the final 2 games. That way they could have kept him then let him walk after the season and gotten a comp pick. Instead they pulled a knee jerk reaction and cut him. They made a poor business decision. They let emotions get in the way of making smart decisions.just makes me sick to my stomach that floyd will have prob a ring on his finger for not doing anything..... feel real bad for fitz he deserves another shot.

Floyd become quite the enigma this year---he heads into FA with glaring red flags. He probably will have to sign a one year prove it deal in order to reset his market in 2018.
If Floyd gets a ring this year it will probably end up on Pawn Stars in a few years...That's just the type of future I see for him...washed up, washed out, and broke. There will be a couple of players on the ATL and NE roster that will get rings too without having played a down this season. I think someone will pay him, but certainly nothing lucrative nor anything that'd warrant a compensatory pick higher than round 7.
He also cost himself ~$30mil in lost wages to get to a position to get that ring. His tank job followed by his DUI destroyed his free market valuejust makes me sick to my stomach that floyd will have prob a ring on his finger for not doing anything..... feel real bad for fitz he deserves another shot.
