I hesitate to post this thread because the Lito Sheppard report from ESPN turned out to be a dud last night.

At any rate, it seems that Flozell Adams (32 year old Pro Bowl Left Tackle) will be allowed to test the FA market prior to the Cowboys making an offer:

************************************************************
Calvin Watkins, of The Dallas Morning News, reports the Dallas Cowboys will allow unrestricted free-agent OT Flozell Adams to test the free-agent market before offering him a contract.

A lot of us may salivate at having him in a Cards uniform, but, as is the case for most high end Free Agents this year, he would be a long shot.

The dude has more false starts than LD on his resume. He will be overpaid somewhere though.

Nah. The way Gandy played last year I would rather keep him.

Hey, Risen, sorry for jumping on you.

A reporter changing his story, after the fact, is downright dishonest. Similar, but not exactly like Chris Mortenson making assumptions and erroneously reporting as fact that Dan Snyder had interviewed Russ Grimm for the Redskins job.

No Thanks.

But keep throwing vet OL in the mix. So signing Faneca will be easier.

How about Wayne Gandy from the Falcons?

I dont get why everyone is rushuing to get new starting tackles. Gandy played very well last year IMO and should improve in second year in the system. Levi showed a lot of promise and I am looking for him to make the PB this year.

If RG wants to improve the line he needs to start with the weakest link, LG. Until we have made an improvement over Wells there, I dont even want to think about adding anything other than depth to the remaining spots. Actually, if we are able to upgrade our LG then we have Wells, Elton Brown, Lyle and Vincent (possibly Ross too) as depth. I like all of those guys in that role and feel that would make us deeper than most teams on the line.

In short, give me Faneca or a slower rookie T like Cherilous to play LG and I am a happy camper (on the issue of OL anyhow :) )

Nidan, Skkorp, get ready to have a heart attack...I think Flozel the Hotel is too old to be a viable option for us. He's past his prime, and wouldn't be worth it to bring in.

Now pick up your jaws :D

No problem. You're right about Chris Mortenson. He's quickly losing his credibility.

haha. Duly noted.

On my side, Faneca is just too good a fit to not pursue. I cringe at giving him a five year deal but if Whisenhunt wants him, Rod Graves might very well go get him.

Graves has often stated or implied that he views his job, in great part, as acquiring the players and types of players the head coach wants.

We'll soon see. March 1 is 11 days away. If some team throws Leonard Davis or Hutchinson size money at Faneca, I doubt we even make a pass at him. Still, stranger things have happened.

Now that, I would get behind. Gandy won't be nearly as expensive and he can compete with M. Gandy for the starting role. The one thing that I think keeps players playing well is having someone behind them on the depth chart just waiting to take the spot. If we could snag W. Gandy for a fair price I would be all for that.

Flozel will be expensive and expect to start. He's not as good as he thinks he is. If we're going to spend that type of money, It should be on Faneca.
