Top Philadelphia Flyers prospect Alex Bump is an NCAA champion after Western Michigan University defeated Boston University 6-2 in the Frozen Four championship Saturday night.
Bump, 21, did not record any points in the contest, but had a plus-2 plus-minus rating and recorded three shots on goal.
Winger Owen Michaels struck twice for Western Michigan, while Cole Crusberg-Roseen, Iiro Hakkarainen, Ty Henricks, and Wyatt Schingoethe rounded out the scoring in the plastering.
Prospect Devin Kaplan, a 2022 third-round pick and potential future teammate of Bump's, represented the Flyers with an assist on Cole Eiserman's first-period goal for Boston.
Kaplan, 21, also added one shot on goal, a penalty, and a minus-1 rating to the stat sheet.
Defenseman Jack Page, who was at the Flyers' most recent development camp, featured on Boston's third defense pair, posting a minus-1 rating.
After his latest triumph, all eyes now turn to Bump, who is expected to turn pro and sign his entry-level contract with the Flyers in the coming weeks.
If this is it for Bump at the NCAA level, the Flyers' 2022 fifth-round pick finishes his collegiate career with 37 goals, 46 assists, and 83 points in 79 games, including a remarkable 47 points in 41 games this season.
Other players who could potentially opt to turn pro following the Frozen Four championship include Quinn Hutson, Shane Lachance, Gavin McCarthy, Kaplan, Tim Washe, and Tom Willander.
