2 top quality cornerbacks coming out in this years draft, I think. If you were a Card GM and you were sitting with the #5 pick would you consider using DRC as trade material to get another high round draft pick, meaning first or second?

It just kills me that with 1 bad season out of the last 4 everyone wants to get rid of most of this teams best players or many of its young. Trade Fitz, trade Beanie, trade THT, fire the HC, etc. :bang:

You normally don't get better when letting major talent get away to other teams, ala 1998, 2010!!! Chemistry & continuity is a big key to winning in the NFL.

I'd keep DRC at least through the trade deadline next year, and still draft a CB #1. Otherwise the OLB Robert Quinn from NC would be a good fit.

This team needs so much help everywhere though, with the exception of RB & DE.

No. DRC is still young and has proven he can play in this league, why not keep him instead of trading for an unknown?

I have been as hard on Whiz as anyone on this board-----but there is no way that I would call for his dismissal, or for the loss of any of our young and promising players at this point in time. The biggest cause for our current problems was the naming of DA as the starting QB, and the dismissal of Leinart by Whiz. Whiz has acknowleged that this was a mistake. I am not about to give away any more talent, either coaching or player talent at this point.

The Denver game might have marked an end to trying to succeed with dead footed oldsters in our starting lineup. It also showed that the team has not quit, (at least when put in the position to succeed by the coaching staff). Whiz's bad decision put us in this hole, and his moves against Denver shows that he is looking for a way out of it. If he learns from HIS mistakes, just like he expects his players to do, then we are much farther ahead than we would be by giving away coaching and playing talent. I am more for bringing in the best talent we can get to complement what we already have, both in the way of coaches and players.

The only point I would want is the dismissal of Whiz. Who in their right mind would get a QB from the worst team in football then back him up with two rookies. Then on top of that he is the OC. Have you ever seen him over talking to Anderson during the game and looking over defenses?

DRC has to much talent to let go. I thought after the first quater he played well against the Donkey's.

What we know about DRC is:

1. He can cover anyone in the league when motivated.
2. He can not tackle to save his life.
3. He avoids contact when possible.
4. He has been known to take large numbers of plays off.
5. He is a liability in zone coverage.
6. He is excellent in sticky man coverage when motivated.

I just wish we knew which DRC was going to show up every week with some modicum of consistency. I believe that he will have more value this year in trade than next year due to the fact that he is under contract for 2 more years, not withstanding the lockout. Then assuming that we do have a lockout he is under contract for one more year. At which point, I expect him to fly the coup after seeing the big contract that Rolle and Dansby got. Here again, depending on the CBA.

This is not a call to trade him just food for thought. At this point, I would not trade him.

Our corners are fine. However , you can't expect them to cover a guy for 6 seconds. We need a bonifide pass rusher. Pressure on the QB makes the whole defense better. That and perhaps a change in DC.

If we can't get it done with DRC and Toler, we won't be able to get it done with any combination of Patrick Peterson/Prince Amukamara and DRC/Toler. If we're going to draft any defensive player in the top 10, it must be Robert Quinn.

If by some grace Peterson is there, you take him and never look back.

:yeahthat:

In addition, I think Toler has been solid all season and Michael Adams has been a breath of fresh air in nickle packages.

IMO, we need an OLB and a LT in the first two rounds if possible

Umm lately you cant even expect DRC to cover someone even when in press coverage for 2 to 3 seconds much less 6. even though many on here rave thats what he is great at. So yea your right. ;)

Sounds like issues that could be remedied with a quality defensive coordinator.

What about all the he gets bored and motivated talk has anything to do with the DC? That's a a personal issue from a kid who has no heart.

DRC has two count them 2 interceptions this year. I would expect more than two from your supposed number one lock down CB.

Darelle Revis has zero count them zero interceptions this year.
Nmandi Asomugha has zero count them zero interceptions this year.
Champ Bailey has two count them two interceptions this year.
Charles Woodson has two count them two interceptions this year.
Ike Taylor has two count them two interceptions this year.

What a bunch of scrubs. I would expect more than two from a team's supposed number one lock down CB.

Deangleo Hall, on the other hand, is second in the NFL with 6 INTs. There's a guy someone should give a big-money contract to.

I don't know Shane, I think that when the Cards decided to start Anderson at QB they ripped the heart out of the entire team.

Just basing that on their play vs New Orleans and Denver. But who knows, Orton was horrific Sunday so maybe that was more Denver's poor play than the team getting inspired because Anderson wasn't starting.

Just really weird season.

I agree. I think the team went into games knowing they were behind the 8 ball with Scud at QB. If we can see it and know it, they certainly can.

Proven talent is always better than highly regarded prospects. Yes DRC has struggled, but I give everyone outside of DA a mulligan this year. The whole team has been in a funk.

One of the Cardinals biggest problems in their history has been letting go of or giving up on young talent. The last thing we need is another talented first round pick that we throw away whenever things aren't going perfectly.

We need a QB, OLB or two and a LT before another CB. Having said that if the CB is the best blue chip prospect then you take him (unless a very good QB prospect is available). I don't want Levi Brown on Leonard Davis part 2/3. I doubt the FO / coaches place LT as high a need as many fans do.

Peterson, DRC and Toler at CB would be very impressive. Add Money Mike as the dime and now are deep and talented.

IIRC 82 Grad describes DRC as a punk and although I don't like that label I can't think of a better one. Rhodes and Wilson need to smack him around to get his stinking mind right.
Couple of points: He is coming off knee surgery and players typically don't get back to true form until the 2nd year. DRC did shut down the Bronco WR's after that lousy 1st QTR. I'm not writing him off or looking to trade him at this point.

Keeping the talented players on the team in crucial. We have too many young players and too many old players and not enough good players. Especially at LB. But losing Dansby won't hurt us. We got Paris Lenon.
