Football?

Why the NFL get so much attention?? Dont get me wrong imma diehard Cards fan. But why football get so much attention? The NFL pimps the tv stations with the commercials. Kick off, commercial. Punt return, commercial. 5 minutes to form a play? When we all know what they gonna do. And please dont say baseball boring. Baseball has signs to set up defense. The catcher has to watch the the opposite dugout and and base runners. Baseball still # 1...

Just saying cuz everytime I come on ASFN The footbal chat always has a new post....

And I have to agree with Jeff here.

This board has had a lot of ....shall we say...less than thought provoking posts lately....but this one does indeed rate right there at "taking the cake".

....and on second thought .....a lot of the recent posts HAVE been thought provoking to me.....they almost provoke me into thinking of going on a mercy killing spree.

Sorry guys this is real. Football maniacs seem to push this sport on folks, offseason and all. It makes me wanna hate football.. I have people telling me, if you dont like footbball you aint a man.. seems homophobic to me.. just like these responses I got..

i made this topic up bcuz on the az cards boards.. they related nascar to football.. saying the hicks that watch nascar, have a differnt form of hicks that watch football.. i agree with the red heat crew.. but i was wondering if i would get nasty replys about this like nascar.. i did so now im skeptical

Here are the reasons football is the number one sport. 16 games. It makes every game mean a lot, and the playoffs boil down to winning 3 games. Each game is meaningful in football. In this way I think it's a lot like March Madness.

One day a week is all the focus required.


I agree Football is not the most exciting game in the world. I prefer baseball as a game but baseball is chess and football is like a videogame. Lots of action plus strategy with those breaks in the action.

The Draft is another thing that keeps football on top add in FA now and the parity increasing and you can see that football is really doing a lot to stay popular.

Here is the other key thing: BETTING. It is a perfect betting game.

Objectively I know it isn't that scintillating to watch, but subjectively I LOVE IT. It's the only game I actually pay for.

But in my case it might be more tied to the Vikings I love the Vikings I really don't watch other teams those games I can't get into - so cheering interest might be more important in football.
Now at least I will have a second game each week to watch.

In a drunken fit of rage I posted this last night. I come to ASFN to read stuff, but only football has the update replies always. I like football, but not so much as to talk about it year round. Im sorry if I offended anyone. I dont know why im being warned though, im a grown man and I feel like im being smacked on the hand with a ruler, but hey it aint my site. I wasnt trying to put anyone down, and if I did, im sorry. Anyway, Ill leave this here for everyone to read then I will delete this thread within 24 hours.
