at least for now.

Grass on the Great Lawn was removed recently, and the soil remixed and regraded with new turf rolled in this week. It will take several weeks for the sod to take root.

During preseason games Thursday against the New Orleans Saints and Aug. 29 against the Denver Broncos, no tailgating will be allowed on the Great Lawn, although fans still can grill on its perimeter, on the patch of lawn south of Gate 1 or in parking lots

Im pretty certain the Cards dont manage the grounds? Isnt it that organization we pay the facility usage fee to?

The stadium builder is still on the hook for repairing the grass and replacing the trees that burnt up last summer. Once the improvements take place, the Cards will be responsible for the regular maintenance.

regardless if the team is in charge...they are the next occupants. They should have their people over there checking to make sure everything is perfect for their incoming customers. What if the AC isn't working...are they going to try to fix it the day of the game? It's call planning. The Cards and the stadium owners KNEW we are coming on the 7th and with full knowledge that we plan to use the lawn. They had MONTHS to have it ready....even if the builders job is to fix it...get it done then send them the bill...don't leave your customers high and dry.

I'd much rather tailgate on grass rather than asphalt....the heat from the asphalt radiates a lot worse than the grass...also playing catch on the grass vs. having my family run in front of cars....come on

they raised prices in a down market thus should provide equal or better service.

...this is just sloppy...call it what it is...

You can't just get it done and send them the bill. You have to wait for them to fix it or fix it and pay for it out of your own pocket. And you need to remember that the Cards don't own this stadium. The TSA does and they are the ones who are responsible for the maintainence and upkeep and they are the ones who built the stadium.

You can't blame the fans really for being upset because all of this was known last season. However, 40's right, when you're dealing with the builder you have to follow the Golden Rule: If you want to use my gold you have to follow my rules.

What is interesting about this issue was that the Cards were unhappy with drainage, as it tended to pool in low areas of the grass. Hello, we are in a desert, how much rain do we normally get during the football season? I know the wettest month is usually February, 1.15" on average. However, I guess if we have monsoonal rain on gameday, then that could be a problem.

It was a problem last year at I think the Browns game? It was a sloppy mess with little lakes everywhere.

Generally what happens on a commercial job is the GC (General Contractor) does all the site grading early on in the construction phase and then expects the LC (landscape contractor) to use what grade is given them knowing they are responsible for +/- .10'. However this only affects finish grade and isnt enough to cover up drainage issues. It's an age old issue that will only go away when LC's have the power to fight back, which I'm GUESSING is what happened here knowing that the LC on this job is a very large company with the power to fight.
