Stats never, ever tell the whole truth of the situation in any sports.

I love stats as much as the next guy, but you can gain 10 yards a million different ways.

From a pure talent stand point, I would say they are pretty even. From an intelligence stand point, Palmer is miles ahead. Then, you add coaching and the gap grows even more.

If Cutler was by some miracle act transformed into a Cards uniform I would happily bury a claw hammer in my skull :)

I'd take Cutler with this staff, but I'd still bury a claw hammer in your skull.

man what is about old qb guys reviving their careers in Arizona. I'm just a nobody ,but maybe I need to move back there when I get older LOL maybe I will have some good fortune. why did peyton not choose to go there? not that he made a mistake because he has been great in Denver just wonder what could have been.... anyway to the point. I have both of these guys on my fantasy team and I would go with palmer. man he is sneaky good in the pocket and just has a better team overall. if he can stay healthy and protected he's the man and will remain my starter. cutler is too unpredictable. he has the talented Wide outs, but you can never tell what his deal is and if he is holding the ball too long or his OL just sucks that bad.

While I don't feel Cutler and Palmer are identical, it isn't that long since Palmer was in the same conversation as Cutler in terms of making critical, unnecessary errors. Granted, I think Palmer is a lot more coachable so it's hard for me to agree that Cutler would benefit from better circumstances like Palmer has, but they aren't as different as it seems at first blush.

I think Cutler may have missed his chance though. He got Trestman fired and in general, has wasted the abundance of talent surrounding him. When McCown came in and comparatively crushed Cutler statistically, I finally lost faith in Cutler. There have been too many circumstances and years to think that he isn't the problem.

Cutler won me some money in fantasy football two seasons ago.

That said, I'd take Palmer without hesitation.

Epic meltdown on this chicitysports board today. They don't have a lot of faith in their football team up in Chi-town.

To be fair Cutler played great til his last play. Of course right after the announcers noted he was 8-8 with a touchdown he Cutler'd Up and threw an ugly interception. Cutler did what he does.

I found the comment of ClydeLee to be quite a complement:

"Palmer had greatness and was rising ontop, then got hurt a couple times including I believe the 1st or 2nd play of one of those playoff appearances and he nosedived eventually from that. Then now in AZI he's had a bit of return to form like the vets like to do in that city."

That tells me how things are going here are being noticed not only by Cardinals fans, but by NFL fans in general. Man, we are not completely off the radar anymore.

Kurt. Warner. Except he can move in the pocket.

For my money, the Packers, Cardinals, and Seahawks are the top 3 teams in the NFC. Guess which 3 teams the Bears play first? That is a hellish start to any season.
