Be one of the leaders of the defense.

Work with the younger players.

Set a good work and attitude example.

Make his teammates accountable for poor play.

Cooperate with the coaching staff.

Put in full effort on all downs.

Play team ball.

Others to add? Please feel free.

I am expecting a lot from him. Am I out of line?

If we make the playoff's porter better not allow a team to put up 50 points on us :).

I haven't seen the amount yet. How much are we giving him?

3 years 17.5 million. With a high of 24 million with possible incentives. I like the signing a lot. But that is very pricey for a 33 year old OLB.

Even if he has down years, he should lead the team in sack totals. All he needs is 5.5 as anyone else last year right?

A little expensive, but needed.

If he doesn't get at least 8 and apply consistent pressure he will be a disapointment IMO. Especially for 6 miillion annually. That being said
I hope he hits all incentives!

If he does hit all of them we will all be very happy. It will be worth the money.

All he has to do is produce...don't care about much else.

What does "produce" mean? I've seen this board going wild now that we have signed Porter... and while I agree that he was the best of the rest out there, I am very, very, VERY skeptical about what he can bring...

I wonder what the proper expectation really should be for Porter. 5 sacks? 10 sacks?? What does "produce" really mean??

Porter is a better starter than having Berry and Okeafor backing each other up. Haggans on the other side is solid too. Both of them WILL bring attitude to this OLB corps, and WILL take the youngsters under their wings. If being near his son is so high on Porter's priority list, than I would venture to say that helping the younger players to mature will also be high on his list. Porter has taken a big step in his own life this year. His decision to look after the development of his own son bodes well for the mentoring of our younger OLB's.

Best of all, we now have a very solid pair of OLB starters, AND a very solid pair of Safeties, (maybe the best in the league). We have a great opportunity to get very strong up the middle of our D with the talent in this year's draft. Imagine adding a Kick-butt NT to work with Watson, and a solid pair of ILB's, (a thumper and a cover guy), and we can use the rest of the draft for BPA. Keep up the good work FO.
