Yeah, but he doesn't have the wear-and-tear of most of the guys his age. He just missed an entire season with an injury that wasn't a result of the grind, or a knee. Plenty of RBs would have successful careers into their 30s if they weren't abused so much in their first few years.
That is pure speculation on your part. History shows that RBs fall off the map after 30 with few exceptions regardless of the number of carries they had prior to that age.

This!

The ages when men hit their physical peak vary. When it comes to peak alertness and metabolism, the age of 25 seems to be the point when men start to slow down.

DJ had a broken wrist...a broken wrist that was supposed to see him return to the field in december... yet here, now... in the last days of March,...he still has not gotten medical clearance to practice.

for a guy who has to hold on to that ball while 300 lb dlinemen try to punch it out....a wrist is pretty important... dangerous when every tackler coming in is going to lay his helmet on that wrist as he tries to knock that ball out during a tackle

I wouldnt really sweat a routine break. but this one has kept him uncleared for nearly five months after he was supposed to be back on the field.
why does he need clearance to practice when practice isn't happening?

obviously right now he does not need it. but the fact remains he has not been medically cleared and he was originally supposed to be back on the field in december.

He was cleared near the end of the season, but with the season over early they held him out and are now being cautious. Nothing to see here since there is no reason at this point to. It's the off season and they'll ease their best offensive player back.

he has not been cleared. read the article in the OP.... he has received zero medical clearance.

it is an issue because ...yes... the media announces players getting medical clearance during the off season...it is an issue because an injury that takes six months longer than expected could..."could" indicate it was worse than expected or indicates complications in healing.

I think the kid will be fine,... but it is still reason to be concerned.... I would prefer seeing articles at this point saying he was benching 400lbs instead of articles saying he still has not gotten medical clearance

TJ Logan has not been medically cleared either.

You are correct, the was never fully cleared, but he was healthy and healed. They held him out because the season was done. He is fine and healthy and it is not taking longer than expected. They are being safer than they need to be because he is their best player.

His words right here. If we were in the playoff race, he would have played. I have no doubt.

There is no reason to until you need to. They also said that TJ could have played at the end of the season too, but were just being safe with the season lost.

I would offer him a five year 50 million dollar contract. If he didn't take it then let him play out his contract and draft another RB in the first few rounds to replace him. Franchise him a year or two until we are happy that we found a replacement.

That would be like 20% more than Davonta Freeman's deal — when I think he was a pending free agent. That would be insane.

Why do you want David Johnson under contract for five more years? What value is he gonna have at 32?

That contract will seem like its cheap very soon and we lock him up for all his best years.
Plus he's only 26 and in his prime. He has only played two seasons and doesn't have knee problems.

DJ had a broken wrist...
Nope, he had a dislocated wrist that required surgery. That's much more serious than a broken bone.

I'm not an orthopedist (though I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express once) but I believe a dislocated wrist would entail multiple sprained ligaments.

So a long recovery is not surprising, but on the other hand, a full recovery should be possible.

Ouchie/Cheesie, what says Dr. Shapiro?

is he 27 already? or is that a five year extension from his deal now?
