California player of the year and UofA recruit Chase Budinger will be playing in the McDonald's All-American game on ESPN tonight. The guy is going to be a stud.

Chase was impressive, Greg Oden looks like he's 40 years old, and Jon Scheyer will start geting the "best shooter in college basketball history" treatment from Vitale around mid-December.

Kevin Durant will be a super-star in the NBA.

Chase Budinger is my type of player. No crap talking. No fancy, over-dribbling. But, he'll steal all of your lunch money.

His passing and court-awareness really impressed me.

I think he has a chance to be the best player UofA has ever had. Righ now, he's the best player on UofA's roster, and that includes Hassan Adams.

Chase was named co-MVP of the game. He was very impressive. He was one of the few guys last night who looked to pass. He probably won't start next year unless Lute goes small but he will see a lot of playing time. I would like to see Lute play a lineup of:
Shakur
Jawann
Marcus
Chase
Ivan

Also, I know it's a long shot but Arthur will be visiting the UofA next week and if Lute can get him to commit, that would be HUGE.

Finally, did you guys watch the dunk contest after the game? Chase had two unbelievable dunks. He came in second but easily could of won.

I can't help but feel like Chase will be here 2 years at the most. If he was smart, he'd stay and see what happens when Bayless comes in in 07...but who knows.

My worries are that Lute will never win another championship with the history of players leaving early. Just the thought of players like Terry, Bibby, Igy, Jefferson, etc. staying til senior year and seeing what would have happened is intense

I think Chase will stay at least for 2-3 years. He has said he won't leave until he knows he is completely ready.

Also, Jason Terry stayed all four years and waited his turn. He only started during his senior year and was Player of the Year.

I thought Chase was terrific, all these UCLA fans saying he chose UA because he doesn't want to play defense are bitter. That kid can ball, great athlete, fundamentally sound, better shooter than I thought. He played unselfishly too.

I wish James Keefe had been in the same rotation with Budinger instead of with Daequan "shoot everytime you touch the ball" cook. I haven't seen a boxscore but he and durant just shot everytime and Cook was taking shots from anywhere. he made a 30 footer and that just seemed to encourage him. Keefe started poorly but made 2 Ft's, made a 3, was doing the little things like setting screens and calling out switches on defense. his style won't translate in an all star game but you can see why Howland wanted him, perfect fit for UCLA.

Budinger is going to be a star at UA, I'll be amazed if he's not a starter from day 1. Arthur is impressive too, if Lute gets him look out, skinny but talented.

Oden is just insanely talented for his age, not much offensive game yet but he will completely dominate games on defense. athletic freak.

You are correct...Hopefully JP will understand the process of waiting his turn and not transfer after riding the pine last year...he has great potential
