When I look at the site and view the cap hits for 2013 the cardinals can cut a few players and be in good position to get better players.

I an not saying that we should cut players but here is what I am viewing to get cap relief.

Kolb has a cap hit of 13.5 M and we should be able to redo his contract. He has a base of 9M and that should be down to 3 mil. Cap savings of 6 M.

Kolb should be cut - Savings of 7.5M

Kerry Rhodes has a cap hit of 6M and we should be able to redo and extend his contract another year or two. Kerry has a base of 4.5 and that should be downgraded to about 2 mil. He still received his bonus's of 1.5 mil per year. Cap savings 2.5 Mil

Cut Rhodes - 6M savings.

Adrian Wilson - Cut savings 3M.

Stewart Bradley - Cut savings 3.5M

William Gay - Cut savings 3.35M

Earley Doucet - Cut savings 2M

Beanie Wells - Cut savings 1.457M

Jeff King - Cut savings 1.55M

David Zastudil - Cut savings 1.475M

O'Brian Schofield - Cut savings 1.323M

John Skelton - Cut savings 630K

Ryan Lindley - Cut savings 660K

Mike Gibson - Cut savings 715K

Kory Sperry - Cut savings 715K

Jim Dray - Cut savings 630K

Adam Synder - Cut savings 0 dollars

Daryn Colledge - Cut savings 450K

Levi Brown - Cut savings 800K.

I am not saying that these players should be cut but here are their cap hits that we could have a savings on.

Were pretty much playing with these guys this year- IMO - Minus Kolb. As well we should - we won't have the anti Whiz evaluations until at least the bye week.

Rhodes is an interesting situation. It looks to me like there might be some nice stop gaps at S in FA this year between Woodson and Ed Reed.

A Rhodes restructure seems most likely, but I wouldn't entirely rule out the Cardinals signing one of the good safeties for a 2 year deal and cutting (or trading) Rhodes afterwords.

Realistically without completely mutilating the roster...

Cuts:
Bradley - 3.5m
Doucet - 2m
King - 1.5m

Puts us around 3.5m under the cap with about 47 players on the roster. 7-8 draft picks should fill out the roster right around the cap so we'd be in good shape. Then you can get creative and restructure Kolb so we can cut Colledge even though we eat almost all his salary. It will pay off in 2014.

You can get relatively the same amount of CAP room by signing Rhodes to a new deal and redoing Kolb's deal.

Sorry, but I think King is a bargain.

We need to find a creative way to get rid of Colledge before this season without paying him 7m to go away... Plz put forth some suggestions on how the Cards could do that.

I think all the bolded players are in jeopardy of, and serious candidates to be cut. They represent $25+ mill in cap savings.

There are three main reason I think this:
1- A new staff always cleans house and brings in their own guys.
2- Arians came from a team that set a record for productivity out of rookies.
3- The Cards were 5-11 with them, they can be 5-11 without them :D.

None of those players are really answers, especially long term answers, to the problems the Cards have and cheaper alternatives can be found while yielding similar production. Rhodes is probably the only questionable one and it's not like he's some superstar that would be a devastating loss.

I am not saying that these players should be cut but here are their cap hits that we could have a savings on.

Remember we are at 51 players and have 7 Draft picks and 1-3 FA to get.
That means that their are going to be cuts and the below are expendable.

I am saying that 11-12 of the above guys should be cut and that could be a savings of 21.21M.

I am redoing Rhodes contract to get it in the range of 3.75=4M.

Cutting:

Adrian Wilson - Cut savings 3M.

Stewart Bradley - Cut savings 3.5M

William Gay - Cut savings 3.35M

Earley Doucet - Cut savings 2M

Beanie Wells - Cut savings 1.457M

Jeff King - Cut savings 1.55M

O'Brian Schofield - Cut savings 1.323M

John Skelton - Cut savings 630K - Toss up between these two but 1 will be cut for sure.

Ryan Lindley - Cut savings 660K - Toss up between these two but 1 will be cut for sure.

Mike Gibson - Cut savings 715K

Kory Sperry - Cut savings 715K

Jim Dray - Cut savings 630K

If the Cardinals cut the above and minus the Rookie cap of 6.5M we would have roughly 13.6 mil to spend on Free Agents.

Just saying! Is this going to happen maybe, maybe not.

Redo his contract to lower the cap hit and then cut him. :D

Cut or trade William Gay and use the money to re-sign Greg Toler.

If Kevin Kolb doesn't take a restructure, he's obviously gone.

Early Doucet is probably gone if the new staff is basing decisions on last season's tape.

Adrian Wilson's roster status may depend on whether Rashad Johnson is re-signed.

Right now, the priority re-sign should be Greg Toler IMO.

That'd be swell but his agent will probably sniff that out. Is it the restructure bonus that kills us because spotrac says cutting him would hit us for 4m not 7m mil...

Thanks for the link. It's not as navigable as Spotrac's database--which is super-intuitive and -responsive. But it's going to be something that I'll use for cross-reference.

I have talked to the person who runs the site and he stated that Spotrac is getting their info from him.

To me its more navigable and has more information.

Again, it's a matter of opinion. What I can get from Spotrac is a list of all the Cards' 2013 free agents by position at the click of the mouse. I can get that information from OtC, but I'm going to have to mine the information and put together some different numbers.

The numbers are great (the "Dead Money" list is awesome), it's just not as slick a presentation as what Sportrac can offer.

Finally, OtC says that the Cards are scheduled to be $2.5M over the cap in 2013, while the report from Darren Urban says that they're an additional $1M over.
