I could see a free agency where we sign

Jordan Howard
Derek Wolfe
Calais Campbell
Markus Golden
Danny Trevethan
That would set up the draft to target WR, RB, OL, CB, OLB, ILB which are the strengths of this draft.

1 - Wirfs / Okudah / Simmons / WR
2 - Niang / Jaylon Johnson / Malik Harrison / Shenault or Raegor / CAm Akers
3 - Netane Muti / Michael Ojemudia / Khalid Kareem / DPJ / L Perine

I think Jordan Jenkins would be a good addition
He put decent numbers, he got better every year, still young(26), won't cost too much

Hargrave Vernon butler Shelby Phillips, couple of them would be great

Travathan is a veteran presence, cheap i guess, who played for Joseph and can offer an adeguate level of performance

Draft

Round 1)Lamb wr
Round 2)Niang ot
Round 3) Malik Harrison lb
Round 4)Terrell Lewis alabama olb
Round 5)Anthony McFarland rb
Round 6) to Miami for drake
Round 7) bpa

Yes please

I agree with everything you and @Chopper0080 are saying....I just think that last year Hicks was a phenomenal bargain compared to the top of the ILB market.

Wagner is already a hall of famer, probably was two years ago. I think Patrick Willis is a stretch as a hall of famer because he didnt play long enough. He was very good, but for that short of time, I want all time dominant.
Which he was.

if Drake departs, LeSean McCoy might be a decent target

not as "the guy" but a guy in a RB by committee format with Chase E

I also get that the by committee thing would cut against how KK managed the position last year

If you can't see the difference between a five-time All Pro and Jordan Hicks, I don't know what to tell you. This is a pretty significant troll.

Jordan Hicks was the third-, fourth-, or fifth-best defender on his team (depending on where you place him among Chandler Jones, Budda Baker, and Patrick Peterson).

Bobby Wagner was the best player on his defense and a legit DPOY candidate.

I think you can legitimately say they both played for below-average defenses, but this is silly.
Almost as silly as comparing Peterson’s season to Hicks’...

Ok so going as realistic as possible. I think we can sign 2 bigger names, and 3 smaller names. We have about 40 million in cap space before any restructures or anything. Here would be my preference.

Big Names (~25 million)

1. Cory Littleton - We improve our ILB position while also weakening the Rams. He is the best FA at the position, and the chances of Simmons falling to #8 are slim. (~10 million???)

2. Bud Dupree or Mathew Judon - We solidify our edge spot and make our defense quite a bit better because of it. Edge in the draft is not great (~15 million???)

Smaller Names (~15 million)

Jordan Phillips - need D-Line help badly (~6 million???)

Andrew Billings - Mans the nose and lets Peters rotate to end when needed (~3 million??)

Conner McGovern - Upgrade at center and potential multi-year starter (~3 million??)

Eric Ebron - He provides the TE/Big WR that we could use. When healthy, he is productive. I think Williams, Ebron, and Arnold would be a solid TE group. (~3 million???)

This would let us go BPA in the draft, but still be ok if the draft doesn't fall our way.

Rd. 1- Derrick Brown
Rd. 2 - Niang
Rd. 3 - Pittman Jr
Rd 4 - Zach Moss or Eno Benjamin
I would love this draft...
When Fitz is done we would have Size on the outside with Butler 6’6, Pittman 6’4. And Kirk and Isabella inside...

Love Moss at RB

get top DL

And a RT

I like OLB Kyler Fackrell (Packers).

I think he could be this years Jordan Hicks (under market pay /over performance play).

Lots of talk on Friday about a tag and trade for Chris Jones. Obviously it would depend on the cost of the trade, but holy cow would this give our defense a boost.

You probably heard the same guys on the radio I did. They were talking about a Peterson/Jones trade but I don’t think they realized he’s looking for $140+ mil or whatever it is.

I could get behind this offseason. I think the Cardinals would take a significant step forward.

I honestly believe Keim is going to build an at least 8-8 team, but my concern has more to do with how sustainable of a team can Keim build?

No. Just, no. This guy projects Willis' career totals for 8 more years as if he would've played at the same level from age 31-38 as he did in his 20s. And still, Lewis was better against the pass. If you watched both of our their whole careers, you'd know that Willis was very good, but no way better than Lewis.

Derek Wolfe - DE Broncos

Another high effort guy that could be a bargain in FA.

I am also intrigued by a one year prove it deal for Eric Ebron to see what he can do in this offense.

for the talent, he seems to wear his welcome out with teams

i read somewhere that Indy has no desire to keep him.

Hes worth it. I would go so far as to say that Chris Jones is the best interior D-Lineman in the AFC, and probably # 2 or 3 depending on where you put him and Fletcher Cox.

Donald 22.5mm per
<wide gap>
Jones <-- At 25 years old: He's Gonna get PAID
Cox - 17.1mm per

<grand canyon sized gap>

Grady Jarrett - 17mm per
Geno Atkins - 16.3mm per

Only others within shouting distance of Donald, Cox, & Jones are Watt & Buckner right now.

I would give up Pat in a heartbeat to do this deal.

Cluff, you are crazy. Does he even realize the current state of the roster? Does he realize we still have 15 empty roster spots? Does he even realize you have to factor in the cost of draft choices?

I swear to god there are 20 guys on this site that could write better articles.

Didn't free agency used to start the week after the combine? Seems like a long wait this year.

We need to know quickly if Pat P is going to resign here, or play out his deal and hit FA. I personally think he is out after this year because he wants to be a FA and go to a different team...but that is just speculation. Keim should be pushing him to find out his mindset before the start of FA.

If he is planning to "test the market", then it is in our best interest to trade him for a more long term player...could be Chris Jones, could be for a draft pick...but we should move him.

If he says he wants to resign, then we need to decide if we want Pat P ages 32-35 as one of the highest paid CB's in the NFL. If we dont, trade him. If we do, lock him up and move on.

Again, if it were me, I would be looking to trade him. If the rumors were true that we could have had Philly's first round pick this year (#21) I think I would have done it. Now its about maximizing returns.

Jones is interesting because he is in his prime, and truly a game changer. Is he worth 20 million a year, I don't know...but he would add something that this team really needs, and that is a defensive lineman that teams have to plan for. Draft Derrick Brown along side of him, or Isiah Simmons behind him and this defense becomes a totally different animal.

Pump the breaks AZ. Listen, there is plenty of time to decide on PP21. We can form the rest of the team and see where we sit.
If this team is competitive we will have about 8 games to evaluate PEtersons play. If we are winning he’ll want to stick around.

Now if we are struggling and appears we are not going to make the playoffs you can bet some team out there will be interested.

If we trade him now we would be forced to replace him right away. He’s probably going to give us an ultimatum to sign him to an extension before the season or he will become a free agent. Either way we could still tag him if he has an all- pro year.

No need to rush this.
