After a successful two-year stint as the head coach for Arkansas State, former Alabama Crimson Tide assistant basketball coach Bryan Hodgson will be moving to Tampa, Florida to take over as the South Florida Bulls program's new head coach. Hodgson led the Red Wolves to a 45-28 record during his two seasons including an NIT berth this past year.
Prior to the announcement Tuesday night, Hodgson was also reportedly linked to the UNLV head coaching position, but instead ends up at South Florida.
Hodgson got his first shot with Nate Oats back in Buffalo, and since then he has found tons of success. In 2023, his first year as a head coach, Hodgson was named a finalist for the Joe B. Hall Award, given to the nation's top first-year head coach. To be honest, it probably won't be much longer until he lands in a conference like the SEC.
However, it is going to be a full rebuild with the Bulls as they went 13-19 a season ago including a conference record of 6-12 before letting go of Brian Gregory.
