It also depends on how much they smoke.

One of the guys on my softball team (I know it is not the same as professional football, but a sport none-the-less) plays better after a couple of tokes. Calms him down, helps his focus :)

Is the league stupid or is Dwash stupid? I'll let the rest of you decide.

Obviously Dwash deserves plenty of blame but it's impossible to ignore the hypocrisy of a league that lines it's pockets with alcohol generated dollars but severely penalizes players for smoking marijuana. It's ok for any of us to get split-faced drunk at a football game via the Official Beer of the NFL but a player can lose his livelihood because he enjoys a similar substance in his own home.

The issue for me isn't whether they should be allowed to or not. The issue is it is an employer rule they know about before hand, and agree to.

If an employer offered me a job, that for all intents and purposes I was qualified for, at $3 million per year, but said "Company Rule - you have to wear Mickey Mouse ears all day at work" - then I agree or decline the offer. There are companies these days whereby you're not allowed to use tobacco products - at all - and they test for it as a condition of employment. Whether the rules are silly or legitimate, they know that going in and agree to them.

:sarcasm:

He should be suspended and your team's wins/championships vacated for using PEDs to gain an advantage at softball!

just cause it s a bad message sent towards young kids?

Message for young kids? Parents should teach young kids...not professional athletes. It is more harmful to continuously downplay the positive and at times life saving properties. That is a sin against humanity and the Hippocratic oath. Humans are funny.

An amazing socially constructed society we are...hmmmm...but not wise!

Hmm. Just a simple expression of opinion without judgment, and it receives this kind of response?

yes I find your opinion expression comical. "without judgment" I would disagree on. By you stating that people should not be able to use marijuana, you are placing judgment on those people for using marijuana.

If you said you think we should stick with whites only drinking fountains, would you not be passing judgment on colored people?

So, if there is a rule against bus drivers or brain surgeons using marijuana, and I think it is a good rule, it somehow casts judgment on everyone who uses it?

how do bus drivers driving children around and brain surgeons operating under life and death circumstances relate to professional athletes?

Should bus drivers be prevented from going to happy hour after work and having a few drinks? Because to BRR that is basically equivalent to what you are saying.

Nobody is advocating that bus drivers or surgeons, or even professional athletes, should be drunk or high on the job. But use does not equal abuse and it is pretty clear scientifically that mj is not even as harmful as alcohol.

Just because someone uses doesn't make them high forever or turn them into some kind of junkie.
