There is no more polarizing figure in Pittsburgh Steelers history than head coach Mike Tomlin. The fanbase is squarely divided on whether or not Tomlin should still be the head coach of the team. This was a topic of conversation between former Steeler Ryan Clark and current Steelers defensive lineman Cam Heyward. They talked on The Pivot Podcast about Tomlin and his legacy and here's how Clark summed things up on X.

Mike Tomlin is unfirable in my opinion, but that means nothing. So I asked Cam Heywardwhy he, & others still believe in Mike T so much. His answer was informative but also layered. It started with transparency, & ended with his ability to motivate.

Cam was ready to retire, but Tomlin wasn’t having it. He knew exactly how the meeting needed to go. He had a list of players at Can’s position, their ages & what they’d accomplished. If that wasn’t enough he had old film of Cam, & told him he’d never be that again. Well, Cam signed a new deal & had an All Pro year in 24.

Guess it worked out. The gang is still rolling, & Mike T ain’t going anywhere!

We absolutely get why players love Tomlin and we understand why ownership does as well. The NFL is a results-based business and the real point of all this is whether or not the results the Steelers are getting are acceptable to the players and ownership. It clearly is even if it isn't to the fans. The bottom line is the fans don't have any input in this. If this team continues to underachieve in the eyes, just know as long as the Rooney's and guys like Heyward and Clark trumpet Tomlin, he's staying.
