I stand by my original post:

USC first rounders since the Palmer/Polamalu days havent met expectations.

Things get safer in the second round and later-- and arguably -- the second round and later guys collectively might be better pros overall than the first round guys.

31. New York Giants — Tyson Jackson, DE, LSU
The Giants managed to get by without the injured Osi Umenyiora and retired Michael Strahan and drafting Jackson allows them to move Mathias Kiwanuka back to OLB.

I always saw Jackson as more of an anchoring 3-4 DE, capable of taking on defenders, not being a "hot pursuit" or chasing DE. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm not sure the Giants want this guy on the outside.
I'd be happy to see him in Red.

Not so fast mt friend. Mays is more Landry than Taylor.

I'm sure that's not a slight as it is a comparison of playing styles, because comparing Mays to Landry is a comfort to most people.

To me, they (Taylor and Landry) have more in common then they did differences.

I intended to mean that in terms of elite prospects, Mays is nowhere near the prospect that Sean was as a safety. While Mays reminds people of Taylor, he is nowhere on that echelon.

I have been thinking more and more and if we are to part ways with Smith or Dockett I think this kid could be a great pick. I do think we could trade down a few spots to get him though. He has great size (around 6-5 295 I think), good motor and some amazingly long arms that seem to reach out and grab people from 5yds away.

I see no chance of Dockett getting an extension from us unless we have no one else to play and Smith may be gone this offseason. One of them will not be here next season IMO. We could have a bright future on the line with young studs like Jackson, Campbell and Watson on the line with solid backups in Iwebema and Branch behind them.

Most mocks I have read have him as a late first, early second guy.
OK, thanks abomb! Maybe Alex Mack would be a good first pick for us if we are picking late 1st round?
