I don't understand how you are so adamant about this. Sure, it's the internet, but this is a forum with a very clear and concise set of rules. And while the rules don't specifically address using the word "rape", you were asked several times, by several respected posters, to refrain from using the word.

It's your decision if you want to consider it as you being ganged up on because you used a word that you don't mind but others do, but like I said, you were asked nicely, and you responded in an arrogant and juvenile manner that doesn't help your case.

This board rarely bans anyone, ever. I see no need to unnecessarily go down that path with you--don't use the word anymore. Period. End of story. To me (and I would guess 99.9% of the rest of the posters on this site), there should be no arguement at all about this. As someone that basically rides the fence of decorum on this site, I still am cognizant of what really offends people. If you don't understand that, then perhaps an internet forum (or any civilized forum) is not where you should be spending your time.

Not to mention there are countless men (and women) who were raped as children.

In fact, I see absolutely no reason why gender has anything to do with how offensive something is.

Rape is an act of violence. It's an act of violence that uses sex (or to varying degrees) as it's "weapon."

Rambo, if you think throwing around the word rape is no big deal, maybe you could take a step back and think about those rape victims (both male and female) who've had their world turned upside down by one person's act of violence. You are throwing the word rape out like it's candy. Have some respect for yourself and others, and understand the ramifications of using such a phrase - especially in the manner it was used.

alright, i don't condone use of the word "rape" as rambo's used it, but Stefan's post was hardly trolling, he's just asking people to lighten up. he's not even really supporting rambo. everyone needs to chill out. chap, imo you're outta line here.

It appears that Pakistani has agreed not to use that word like he was. He might not have given it up gracefully, but at least it's done. I'll go ahead and close this thread since there are numerous others about Diaw's European tournament.

Pakistani, this may feel like a personal attack on you. It wasn't. You were just wrong about this, and most everyone else knew. Several people felt strongly about it. Please keep up the good posts... just leave that word (the way you were using it) out of them.
