Knight might actually work at PG with Lebron here. Knight could be a shooter and scorer while Lebron and Booker initiate the offense and keep the ball in their hands. His defense is awful but with Jackson, Lebron, and Ayton in the frontcourt I think a team could handle having a bad defensive PG.
I'd rather they made a move to try and get Patrick Beverly here, not sure what it would cost, but he'd be a good 3&D PG to plug into a Lebron led team. Not sure of other options but I think Payton isn't a good enough shooter to retain if we somehow were capable of signing Lebron. Rondo wouldn't be an ideal fit either since he can't shoot and needs the ball in his hands too much. Since he needs the ball to set players up rather than score I think he'd be capable of co-existing with Lebron but I wouldn't pay more than the vet minimum for him because it could turn sour quickly.
If Lebron signed here I could only imagine how Bledsoe would react to that. Him asking out would be the reason we'd be an option for Lebron, freeing up the cap space and helping us tank for Ayton. We can have a little over $20 million in cap space by renouncing Len and Payton's rights and waiving Williams, Ulis, and Reed. That might be enough to do that proposed sign & trade for Warren and signing James to the max. Might be a little off financially, in which case you package the Bucks pick with Dudley and find a team willing to eat his salary this year, or Chandler, if no one bites then use the stretch provision to waive Chandler. I believe that would open up about $8 million more in salary for us.
Not happening, but we got time to kill until the draft. Under no circumstance should we allow Lebron to play GM and trade away Booker, Jackson, or Ayton/the #1 pick though. He'd join to play with them, not to play with 1 or 2 of them while we traded for more established players to round out the roster.
