Um how?

None of those teams have cap room. Is he suggesting he is willing to take the MLE?

There's going to be a lot of players gambling on themselves signing 1 year deals and hoping for a big deal next year. There are a lot of free agents and not much money around.

As others have pointed out a baynes sign-and-trade could also help matters out

This cheat sheet regarding the Suns in free agency might help.

Actually it looks like the Nuggets do have about 10 million in cap space, a little more than the MLE to offer after Grant opted out.

Utah can maybe terminate Conoly's contract also, which would free up 20 million. Not positive on that.

I could see Atlanta. To me that makes sense.
Why would he want to go to Atlanta over Boston or some other team that actually has a chance to win? It may make sense to you if you think his only motivation is getting a multiyear contract, but that would be the ONLY reason.

That is the only team he can join that will feature him as a starter, allow him to be paid, and likely make the playoffs. That's why I think it makes sense.

Depends on what he wants, although I disagree that Atlanta is likely to make the playoffs. If those are the 3 criteria, Atlanta fits 2 of the 3, but so do the Suns.

Trade exception
Ball
Reddick
Hart and an exception
Are the Hornets done with Ball? Hill seems realistic. Does Reddick have anything left?

Ball has wanted to come to Phoenix. I could see him push for this. He would have to believe he would get lots of minutes and potentially work into the starting rotation as CP3 takes oxygen and changes his Depends.

I’d love Lonzo as a backup PG and insurance policy in case Paul gets hurt
Lonzo can defend both guard positions too. He would add a lot of versatility. He has to be more highly valued in NO than that though. They do have Bledsoe there now.

We would need a competent back up for the compressed season. I imagine Paul will need some load management.
