We better not screw this up. I would waste no time in locking up D`anthony Batiste to a huge long term deal before he is available to all 31 other teams.

I am not particularly against LSH being resigned. But considering the opportunity he had this year to showcase his talent, what did he do to warrant a long term deal?

Yes if...

Howling as a kicker returner - 1-3 year deal, not large money
Ohrnberger - 1-2 year near minimum back up deal.
Lenon - Yes. He's one of the captains on defense. Overpay a little, but it still isn't large money.
Groves - Yes. I think he'll go somewhere else for a full time starter role and get more than we can pay.

Toler - Yes. #3 CB money.
R. Johnson - Yes #2 SS money.

No one else.. though I expect to see Michael Adams back for a 1 year min deal. Its the natural order of things.

I completely agree with this with the exception of Batiste who, of course, needs to be resigned at all costs. If we have to cut Fitz to make cap room so be it. This guy is the cornerstone of our future...It all fails without Batiste.

I think the only guys that should be signed are Toler, Groves, and Eason and those are depth guys. I don't think there is a NEED player on the list. Toler would be the closest.

Rashard Johnson, who I liked coming out of Bama, picked a good time to make his first play in 4 years, scoring against Detroit, because people seem to forget he has been pretty invisble up to that point.

Easy, keep only LSH on the free agent offensive side and then on defense is gets hard because all those guys bring something to the table. Gosh, our offense is so bad that removed from say Massie,Potter(at least good depth player and solid pass blocking starter), Floyd, Fitz, Synder(as a center that is), Housler, King and Roberts...we could dump the rest of them. This team is like a wall painted on both sides with different results. One side has a quality painted surface with a lot of coats and then the other side is white washed with only Fitzgerald providing a little surface. That makes for one shoddy lopsided wall and the wall came down this season. And, anyone in the front office telling us that this white washed wall is acceptable, as Tom Sawyer, has more cruel wit than Mark Twain.

I disagree in regards to Rashad Johnson. His play at S has pushed Adrian Wilson to the bench and I haven't seen teams generating big plays down the middle of the field due to blown coverages. S's are like offensive linemen to me in some reagrds. The less I hear their names, the better they are generally playing. He also has shown good special teams value. Not a world beater, but a player who has come into his own and developed into a decent starter.

I agree. Johnson's light bulb does not have a ton of wattage but it finally came on :)

I can't evaluate them on this team- Just like every one undervalued Levi why he protected an unmobile QB passing over 66% of the time. This was not built for anyone to succeed - but the defense sure got plenty of oppurtunities!
