Free Kittens

Hi there! I have 3 kittens that need to go to good homes. Two are black (female), one is a gray tabby (male). They are 10 wks old, and it's time for them to go! Don't have pictures, sorry...but they are SOOO cute and loads of fun...blue eyes...WILL DELIVER....West, NW valley, even Central Phx on a workday...

Ahhhh!!! I love kittens! But I think my husband would have a heart attack if he even knew I READ a post titled Free Kittens! We've already got 2 cats, plus I'm allergic to them, so getting more just would NOT be wise.

If you can't find them good homes soon, pm me and I can post about them on the CouponSense message board. They'd probably have homes within a day or two once it's posted on there!!!!

Sorry I have a dog that would love the kittens but ot for the reason you or i would, so I will have to pass, on a side note, my other dog thinks he is Elvira from tiny toons, so they are quite a mix.

With the heat in Phoenix and So Cal you could have roasted kitty by the time the US postal service gets there.

Perhaps that is why Brown Blood (UPS) was laughing so hard....

I think even UPS would have a tough time getting a kitty to survive a trip in a box. I've seen people ship a lot of weird things, but so far, no mammals. At least, no live ones.

Guys I hate to steal this thread because some cute kittens need a home, BUT what is the strangest thing you have seen someone ship?

And does UPS handle DEAD mammals? Dead people?

We're not supposed to handle stuff like that as it can be considered a bio-hazard. However; some Authorized Shipping places (like grocery stores, for example) will take pre-sealed packages and not inspect them for proper packaging or prohibited materials. They're supposed to, but what can you expect from a place that ships packages, sells lottery tickets, and refunds your 7 cents you overpaid on Cheetos all at the same counter?

As for dead mammals, I've seen coolers shipped (during hunting season, typically) full of meat packed in ice. Ice only lasts so long, if you know what I mean. If it ain't sealed properly, odors get out and a searching we must go. Dry ice may make it last longer, but in Phoenix, not much will keep raw meat cool when it's sitting in a giant metal box.

The weirdest (and grossest) thing would probably have to be a quarted Elk carcass that was discovered in a plastic bag, in a cardboard box. No ice, no cooler, nothing. I won't be too graphic, but let's just say that although the Elk was deceased, not everything in the bag was...

Runners-up for weird things:

• Case of lady bugs that had a broken latch. Ever seen a bazillion lady bugs loose in a warehouse building?
• Box of worms (not dead)
• Loaded shotgun (that went off while in the box)
• Assembled desk chair (no box, just a label tied around the arm)

I was in the post office one time when a guy tried to ship a bicycle. He got irate when the postal clerk told him he would have to put it in a box (he tried to ship it with just a tag on the handle). I had to laugh when the post office clerk asked the guy if he expected him to just ride it to Cleveland.

I wish when I ordered from Amazon, I could just say "leave it at the door if I am not home" but I don't think I can do that.

You actually CAN do that if the package doesn't require a signature. Just depends on the shipper. It may also depend on the location you live in. If the driver doesn't feel the package will be safe, they won't want your stuff to go missing.

Kittens survive delivery ordeal in FedEx box

VERGENNES, Vt. - Imagine the shock at Country Home Products when workers opened a box and five kittens came squirming out.

A customer in South Carolina had wanted to return a brush trimmer - a gas-powered machine that cuts grass, weeds and brush - and accidentally sent the kitties along in the FedEx box for the two-day trip to Vermont.

"My co-worker Alan Bean opened the box. Something moved. He jumped and he looked in again and there was five kittens," said Deb Peters, who works in the Country Home returns department.

The kittens are doing fine. The box had been stored in a barn, and the customer apparently sealed the box without looking inside, Peters said.

After opening the box Wednesday, Country Home employees dashed to the nearby Vergennes Animal Hospital and returned with bottles of kitten formula, which the kittens devoured.

The 3-week-old kittens were taken to Addison County Humane Society. Hazel, a black domestic cat whose kittens had just been weaned, is now a surrogate mother, providing a steady diet until they can eat solid food, said Jill Tucker, executive director of the Humane Society.

Peters, who already has three cats, said she wants to adopt the Siamese-looking kitten.

"The husband's not too keen on it," she said, "but this is kind of a special one, you know?"
