I do not know how Keim finds these old vets, AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, how he knows which ones have gas in the tank, and which ones don't.
Corey Redding? How the heck does one of the few NFL players that is older than I am still produce ? I honestly though Keim got too cute with bringing Redding in, and he is still a beast at what he does.
I don't either. Redding and Freeney are just the latest. He keeps them productive by depth, they aren't playing tons of snaps, BA is able to rotate dudes in.
Freeney has been a phenomenal acquisition though. 7.5 sacks in 10 games and he really didn't play much in those early games. That doesn't even count his pressures. He's around the QB and causing havoc. 3 forced fumbles in 7 sacks is insane by the way. He's a difference maker.
What's great to me is that Freeney knows playoffs, he knows how to take it up a level, he can easily turn it up a notch. Even better, like icing on the cake, is that he can groom our younger dudes about playoffs and what it will take to go all the way. Dude has 2 AFC Championships and a SB. I love this dude, love his interviews, he's just so thankful and he really loves BA and this team. He's so complimentary of everyone else on our team.
Keim is awesome. Let's be honest, how many of these "average" just-a-guy players did he bring in that we were like "meh"? Now look at our depth. Depth matters, and Keim knows how to build a roster. What's amazing is that he builds a roster complimentary not just to BA, not just to the offense, but to the defense, offense, the whole team. I'm very impressed.
