When the Steelers lost Super Bowl XXX it took me 5 years to get over it...
No offense, but I have gotta believe that if my team had already won four previous Super Bowls, it would make dropping the fifth one a little easier to swallow.
What makes this one so hard is because of our history. The Cardinals have lost more games than any other franchise in history. To be so close and have it slip through our hands is devastating. It's hard enough just to get there and many of us can only hope we'll get another chance. Sometimes you only get one shot. Just ask the Falcons.
Sometimes you can make the playoffs year after year and have some outstanding MVP caliber players and dominate the regular season, yet make the big game once thinking it's the first of many, yet you never make it back. Just ask the Chargers.
I'm a middle-aged person and it's entirely possible that the Cardinals could never be in the position to win the Super Bowl again in my lifetime. I hope that's not the case, and I don't think it will be, but I surely don't want to look back 30 years from now and remember how this game ended.
The way I feel now, I would be happy with just one Lombardi Trophy for the Cards before I die. Just one.
