Detroit is in love with Joe Thomas (as safe a pick as there is). The top of the 1st round is shaping up to be:

1- Russell
2- Thomas
3- Peterson
4- C. Johnson

For arguments sake, lets say it does pan out that way and Quinn is sitting there at #5. Both Hou. and Miami are interested in him and Wash. is going D line. DO you trade down for the 2nd D lineman picked or the 1st S (#8 or 9)? You pick up a second 3rd round pick as incentive. Vote.

I would love a trade down to 8 or 9 and then either pick up Nelson, Safety from FLA or pick up the best defensive lineman waiting there, Anderson, Gaines, or Branch.

Stay at 5 and take best player available regardless of whether it's offense or defense.

Why, when we can make a deal with a team a few slots down that wants Quinn? By trading the pick we can still get great a player at a position that we need and compensation.

It would take more then a 3rd rounder to make me want to trade down. However I'm willing to trade down as long as we stay in the top 10

He's already been picked in this scenario

Oh, I get it, not all together today- I'd stay and take J. Anderson or Timmons. Trading scares me.

Timmons could be seen as a stretch pick, and some here wouldn't be happy about it, but Timmons is going to have good years in the NFL. His stock will start rising after the combine.

I hear that Quinn is actively campaigning to stay close to home and play for the Browns, for what it's worth. I've heard it a couple times.

It's too early for all this talk, before the Combine and personal workouts. I think that if you're looking to trade down, you're in dangerous territory, because there are only 5 or 6 elite prospects out there.

Agreed thats early but there's little else to talk about except for assistant hirings and Superbowl hype.

Anyways if this scenario went exactly as WildBB says then that would leave us at least one choice amongst Gaines Adams, Anderson, Laron Landry, Reggie Nelson, and Alan Branch. So we could still get a top level prospect while trading down.

I voted the first option, but I scoff that BPA is for certain DL. It might be, but it might not be. Another option should be there.

There was a third option.

The first option would be for BPA DLman.

The third option was basically BPA at another position of need.

Ah, I see what you meant by it, but it reads that we should draft for need instead of BPA. I say we draft BPA regardless of whether it's DL. That's where my vote would have gone.

And if that player most highly rated is Quinn? That's where I'm going with the question.

I don't see Quinn that highly rated, just "over rated." He could easily fall to the Dolphins at the 9th pick.

I think we're really starting to split hairs now. Denny's BPA approach was the best, and using his approach, then no, we would not take a QB in the 1st this year, nor likely a WR. Other than that, we'd be wide open.

Brady Quinn

If the Browns passed on an Ohio guy, Brady Quinn, someone will be "killed". So I think it's safe to assume that the two QB's, and the GT WR go in the top four. Who the 4th guy is I'm not sure but probably the OT or the RB. Everyone else is available for us. If DG was calling the shots I'd feel a lot better than an unproven Rod Graves. But it should be fun.

Stay at five and take BPA, most likely Anderson or Branch. As K-9 stated we will know more after combine and workouts plus free agency will be done by the time the draft is here.

Your WAAAAAAYYYYY Undergrading the value of the #5 pick Vs 8/9. According to the point value chart, the #5 is valued at 1900 points, #8 is 1400 a 500 point difference. 500 points on the trade chart is equal to #41 or the 9th pick in the 2nd round. So if we trade with Houston for #8 they would also need to give us thier 2nd round pick as well, and if we trade with Miami for thier #9 they would have to give us thier 2nd round pick and probably thier 5th/6th rounder as well.

If we could trade to 8-9 and get the 2nd rounder I would say trade, if all we could get was a 3rd rounder, then take BPA

For all of the credit people (and I don't know if you ever did) that people gave Denny for drafting well, they don't seem to want to follow his plan on Draft Day. Be patient. Don't panic and trade up. Don't get robbed and trade down, unless some team is offering the house.
