We get Manning in the draft and man, things would be different.

I bet the Cards get a new stadium approved sooner, I bet the stadium ends up on the East side because it would have been a more popular project. I wouldnt be surprised if they never do the uniform change either assuming Peyton started winning in his first few years. You dont really see teams that are in the midst of success changing their look.

That and we probably would have won a superbowl by now.

Manning realizes this and he would likely also realize its impact on FA. No way he chooses us AFTER Kolb's bonus hits. If he wants AZ, he will let us know ahead of time. If Kolb's bonus hits before Manning has made his decision, rest assured that he has narrowed us out of consideration.

A possible way to get around the deadline -

Peyton isn't going to starve to death regardless of who he signs with or how the terms are structured. In fact, from a tax standpoint he'd be better off deferring as much money as possible to the back end of his contract.

So-o: There's nothing to prevent the Cards and PM from agreeing informally that (1) the Cards will pay Kolb & (2) this will leave us $7-8-mil cap-strapped in Year 1 but (3) we'll make up the Year 1 shortfall in any contract Peyton with bigger guaranteed money in the years going forward.

There's even the possibility or probability that we could make back part of the Kolb bonus money via a trade should we sign PM.

Worst we'd wind up would be back to where we were a month ago before the whole PM zoo started.

Its all over Grover. Lets move on. The only thing I disagree with was that it was fun while it lasted. For me it flashed back to the old obnoxious drill where every free agent seemed to waltz through here on their way to somewhere else.

I agree. Nothing fun about it at all. Actually has ruined the free agency period for me.
